We got to put sprayed edges on the paperback for Darkly by @marishapessl coming this fall šŸ’– seriously they’re bright pink and you should be able to see them from across the book store😈 we also did a new take on the original hardcover art!! this is hands down one of my favorite books i’ve had the opportunity to work on!! Marisha Pessl is a mastermind, and this book has something for everyone - go read it!! And pick up this edition in OctoberšŸ–¤ Arcadia ā€œDiaā€ Gannon has been obsessed with Louisiana Veda, the game designer whose obsessive creations and company, Darkly, have gained a cultlike following. Dia is shocked when she’s chosen for a highly-coveted internship, along with six other teenagers from around the world. Why her? Dia has never won anything in her life. Darkly, once a game-making empire renowned for its ingenious and utterly terrifying toys and games, now lies dormant after Veda’s mysterious death. The remaining games are priced like rare works of art, with some fetching millions of dollars at auction. As Dia and her fellow interns delve into the heart of Darkly, they discover hidden symbols, buried clues, and a web of intrigue. Who are these other teens, and what secrets do they keep? Why were any of themĀ reallyĀ chosen? The answers lie within the twisted labyrinth ofĀ Darkly—a chilling and addictive read by Marisha Pessl. This summer will be the most twisted Darkly game of all. #bookcovers #bookcoverdesign #coverdesigner #yabookcovers #yathriller #yamystery #darklybook #marishapessl

Cover design for For No Mortal Creature by @keshewrites šŸ’œ i’m obsessed with this art by @momoirislei she did such a beautiful job bringing this one to life šŸ“ššŸ—”ļø and of course books edited by @_lydiagregovic_ are always some of my favs to work on, her taste is unmatched 😌 out from @delacortepress in October✨ A teen girl with the power of resurrection must venture into the afterlife, but to survive the death realm, she’ll need the help of her two mortal enemies–both of whom she is inexplicably drawn to–in this romantic, gothic fantasy inspired byĀ Wuthering Heights. When Jia Yi suddenly finds herself alive again after being stabbed through the heart by an enemy’s sword, she realizes she possesses a rare power: the ability to move between the living realm and the shrouded world of ghosts. Ghosts including Lin, her ex-best friend and former love, whose betrayal she still hasn’t recovered from. At first, Jia wants nothing to do with Lin, or any ghosts–metaphorical or otherwise. But when her beloved grandmother abruptly passes away, Jia is forced to travel into the afterlife to save her. To survive the treacherous death realm, Jia will need to rely on both Lin and her longtime enemy, the cold and enigmatic Prince Essien Lancaster. Only, she isn’t sure whether she can trust either of them. With tensions high and new and old connections blooming, Jia must confront the ghosts of her past…or risk becoming one herself. #fornomortalcreature #yafantasybooks #gothicbooks #bookcover #yabookcoverdesign #bookcoverdesign

this week marks NINE YEARS of making booksšŸ“ššŸ„¹ i started out at Random House Children’s Books as an eager and nervous design assistant with big dreams to work on YA covers in august 2016ā˜ŗļø and here we are in august 2025 as an assistant art director working on YA covers, still eager and nervous but more confident most days. and there’s even BIGGER dreams nowšŸ’– be delusional, friends! trust yourself! make shit happen! i was reflecting on all the books i’ve worked on over the years as i’m gathering covers for my portfolio website re-design (more tk on that soonšŸ˜…) and decided to make this fun scrolling bookshelf with all the spinesšŸ„¹šŸ’• HOW ARE THERE THIS MANY? i’m so lucky and grateful to do this job i love helping tell cool stories with cool people, and the work feels more important than it’s ever been. here’s to reading first draft manuscripts, booking wishlist artists, muting teams notifications, GOOD cover meetings, color correcting something 5 times, forwarded glowing author emails, new note books and pink pens, presentation decks, being told no, and being told YESšŸ˜† and of course to all the wonderful colleagues, authors, and artists i get to make magic with every dayšŸ“šāœØ

Cover design for The House of Quiet by @authorkierstenwhite šŸ“šand of course the incredible @tropicalgloom gave us the most beautiful creepy bird cage house of our dreams with this cover artšŸ˜ i can’t believe i got to work on a Kiersten White book after being such a fangirl for so many years (And I Darken girlies where you at?)😭 this book will be the PERFECT addition to your fall tbr!! out in September from @delacortepress šŸ–¤ To save her sister, she must enter the House. In the middle of a deadly bog sits the House of Quiet. It’s a place for children whose Procedure triggered powers too terrible to be lived with—their last hope for treatment. No one knows how they’re healed or where they go afterward. Birdie has begged, bargained, and blackmailed her way inside as a maid, determined to find her missing sister, Magpie. But what she discovers is more mysteries. Instead of the destitute children who undergo the Procedure in hopes of social advancement, the house brims with aristocratic teens wielding strange powers they never should have been burdened with. Though Birdie wants to ignore them, she can’t help being drawn to stoic and silent Forest, charmed by clever River, and concerned for the youngest residents. And with fellow maid Minnow keeping tabs on everything Birdie does, danger is everywhere. In her desperate search for Magpie, Birdie unearths terrifying threats and devastating truths, forcing her to confront just how much she’s willing to sacrifice to save her own sister. Because in the House of Quiet, if you find what’s lurking beneath . . . you lose everything. #bookcovers #bookcoverdesign #yafantasy #fantasybooks #yahorror #thehouseofquiet #yabookcovers #coverdesigner

šŸ“š Cover design for The Library of Lost Girls by @kristenpipps šŸ“š @elizamaru_ created the most gorgeous paintings for this cover art - and maybe there’s some surprises on the rest of the jacketšŸ‘€ @delacortepress welcomes you to the Delphi School for Girls in October šŸ‘»šŸ’– When her sister returns from finishing school a total stranger, a teen seeks out the cause and discovers that the cost of becoming a perfect lady is much higher—and more sinister—than ever expected.Ā A lush, gothic tale that will haunt readers long after they turn the last page. Gwen Donavan adores her beautiful and rebellious older sister, Izzy. But the Izzy who returns from the Delphi School for Girls is not the sister who left. Now she is Isolde: dull and complacent and—most shocking—eager to marry. Gwen is determined to discover what happened to Izzy at Delphi, and the only solution she can conceive of is to cheat her way into the mysterious school. If she can see for herself what they did, maybe she can get her Izzy back. But Delphi is far from the finishing school Gwen expects. Sinister shadows lurk in the hallways of the remote estate, and she is told to never leave her room after dark. More curious, though, are the thousands of books, each with the name of a girl on its spine. They line the walls from floor to ceiling, and the students are forbidden to read them. Delphi says they’re reforming the girls, but when Gwen discovers a note left for her by her sister, she realizes that what is happening at the school is more terrifying than she could ever have imagined. There’s something dark at the center of Delphi, and somehow it’s tied to those books—and to the girls who are sent there. And if Gwen doesn’t confront what hides in the shadows, it won’t be just Izzy who’s lost forever. #bookcovers #bookcoverdesign #yafantasy #fantasybooks #darkacademia

There’s like 30 book cover designs I need to catch up on šŸ˜… prepare to be sick of me!! Starting off strong with one of my favs coming up this fallšŸŽƒ it’s so delightfully adorable!! Everything She Does is Magic by @bridgetjmorrissey šŸ’œ gorgeous art by @brittanykellerart who had been a wishlist artist I was so excited to finally work with ā˜ŗļø out Sept 9th from @delacorteromance šŸ“š In the charming town of Fableview, every day is Halloween. Darcy Keller, resident ray of sunshine and town spirit princess, loves every moment of Fableview’s fall festivities. But she’s also really ready to leave for college next year, even though her parents expect her to stay and take over their Halloween empire. Enter brooding new girl Anya Doyle, a real-life witch and almost a full member of her coven. In order to be initiated, she has to choose a mortal ally to act as her ā€œprotector.ā€ But having moved around so much, Anya is completely friendless. So she does what any self-respecting teenage almost-witch would—she lies and tells her coven her secret crush, Darcy, is willing to do the job. The solution? Work together, of course. The girls agree to help each other out, attending everything from a costume parade to a pumpkin patch party to an apple bobbing contest together. But with Anya’s magical powers and Darcy’s future independence on the line, the last thing they need is the added complication of pesky feelings . . . #bookcovers #bookcoverdesign #yaromance #romancebooks #everythingshedoesismagic

kicking off 2025 with a cover revealšŸ’–šŸ˜†šŸ“š KILL THE LAX BRO by @charlottelilliebalogh šŸ’€šŸ’ššŸŽ€ this is one of my fav covers of the yearšŸ‘€ this story had so much incredible 90s girly pop lax bro thriller inspo to run with - I’m obsessed with how it turned out!! so lovely as always to work with superstar photographer @cblackburnephoto who captures thrillers so perfectlyšŸ“ø and special thanks to @tmprevite for joining the shoot to help with props and talking through decisions and capturing tons of behind the scenes content!! we had so much fun with this one - there was a lot of lip gloss and glitter and stickersšŸ’– yes this is real lip gloss that was hand lettered with a piping bag!! and also YES this was designed pre-brat šŸ˜† out this summer!!! . . . A fresh and darkly funny 90s murder mystery about one high school’s net of lies that begin to unravel when a star lacrosse player winds up dead. The night before graduation, all of Hancock High celebrates at their school’s annual lock-in. But what starts out as a fun night turns horribly wrong when a body is found—and the victim is none other than Troy Richards, the school’s star lacrosse player. Everyone is acting totally clueless. As for suspects? There’s Jennifer (the dream girl), Lydia (the geek), Sassi (the overachiever), and Tatum (the rebel). At a glance, it seems like they couldn’t be more unalike, except for the fact that they all hated Troy (the lax bro) . . . but who wanted him dead? From debut author Charlotte Lillie Balogh comes a wickedly sharp take on high school stereotypes, including the boys we love and love to hate: lax bros. . . . #bookcoverdesign #yabookcovers #yathriller #coverdesign #caseymosesdesign
