Lavanya Ananth at Natya Sameekshana, and at ten, stood for her Arangetram under the august presence of Acharya Smt. Leela Samson. Today, as a senior disciple of Kalaimamani Smt. Roja Kannan at Bharatha Natyalaya, she is a sought-after artist whose performances have graced leading sabhas across Chennai. Her accolades speak to both dedication and consistency — Yuva Kala Vardhini from Jakathalaya in 2026, Natya Vinodhini from Nanganallur Sabha and Priya Fine Arts in 2025, Natyakala Saraswathi in 2024, and induction into the Hall of Fame by Live4you. Trained also in Carnatic music for a decade, she carries rhythm in her voice and in her feet.
Tonight she performs not in a sabha but in the presence of Goumata and Lord Krishna, on earth that has known centuries of devotion. The cows rest nearby. The breeze from the Arabian Sea carries the scent of temple flowers. Here at Bekal Gokulam Goushala, the stage is not defined by proscenium but by proximity to the sacred.

What amazes me is how age-old choreographies remain so deeply relatable even today. The minds behind these intimate padams, keerthanams, and javalis must have tapped into emotions so timeless that they resonate effortlessly with this generation too!
This piece has been a journey — one that has grown with me over time. It’s emotionally demanding, weaving through betrayal, sorrow, regret, and hopelessness… but above all, it speaks of the strength in not letting go.
