This year’s Slum Party is taking a Big Leap.
First :it is happening in two different states in Nigeria.
Second: If I tell you, the team will not be happy with me. :)

Beautiful moment yesterday as our artistic director @obiajuluozegbe was elected as the state chairman for the Guild of Nigerian Dancers (Gond Lagos).
Grateful for the support and we wish Valu strength and wisdom on this new journey.

The Green House is Gone
The Green House is gone
The free school is gone
torn from the earth
like a name it has been erased from memory.
Farewell.
To everything that could have been born here
the unfinished songs, the dances still learning their own rhythm, to what could have been.
To the stories of resilience
we will never hear
Farewell
to the children
who, through this space,
wanted to dance
To dance like Valu
Farewell
to Loné Street Powerbase,
our home without walls of privilege,
but rich in belonging.
Mosafejo
An entire community’s memory wiped in hours.
not by flood, not by fire, but by the cold logic of machines, that do not know names, that do not greet elders, that do not pause for the cries from children.
The earth remembers,
even when maps pretend not to.
The soil knows who danced on it.
They can flatten houses,
but they cannot flatten spirit.

I’m deeply grateful to receive this Award of Recognition from the Slum Party Community Dance Festival @_slumparty
To be acknowledged by a community that believes in dance as a tool for access, expression, and social connection means a lot to me. Slum Party continues to create spaces where movement meets community, where art becomes conversation, and where people are reminded of their power to gather, imagine, and heal together.
This recognition belongs not just to me, but to the communities, collaborators, and young creatives who continue to show up - with courage, curiosity, and care, and to the amazing creatives I work with at Hearts Heartist @thebranddavid@sarah_.strong@hearts_heartist
Thank you for seeing the work, for holding space, and for reminding us that when dance is rooted in community, its impact travels far beyond the stage.
Grateful. 🌿

It’s not just houses been brought down, it’s memories, it’s stories, it’s heritage, it’s futures, it is adults who will never be able to visit the places they once grew up. It is children who will never understand why they have to sleep outside in the open with everything that shares the night, it is lives that have had to pay the ultimate price.
