ARTS VENUE OWNERS! Help the arts become a presence in your electorate by putting these posters up in your establishment. It will help put critical arts funding and reform on the agenda as we head toward the next election. We don't want to be jumping out of the bushes at the 11th hour, the time to organise is now. There are four different posters for four different arts disciplines: stage and screen, visual arts, music, and writing. Shout out if you want posters sent to your venue.

OH BOY. Cats stalwart, player manager extraordinaire, incisive commentator, and film reviewer, @lennyp23 has given us his Australian music for the GF picks (we're happy with Kylie btw, thanks @afl , talking about future AFL GFs). Has he got it right? Cc @hutchycraig @mattricho0 @dwaynerussell1

WANTED: if you're a 16-21 year-old artist, aspiring artist, or an arts lover we want to hear from you. We are campaigning to build support for strong cultural policies as we head into the next election. Gen Z is a critical political force right now and that is growing day by day. Share with people you think night be interested. @vcasecondaryschool @artsunimelb @unswartanddesign @lukas.radovich @hellochilu

BUDGET TIME when we look back on any civilisation, do we pore over and marvel at the ledgers, or do we define that civilisation by its artistic and cultural legacy? Fortunately, Australia is one of the wealthiest nations on earth, so we're in a position to continue this country's rich cultural tradition. That requires reform in the guise of revenue generating models, regulatory change, and investment (see image 3). And it is sorely needed. Australian film and television on streaming services is around 3%. Even with the welcome investment quotas, Australian stories are being buried by algorithms so people can't find this fine and shows. Australian music is likewise buried in streaming algorithms, squeezed off our charts, and of our stages. $100s of millions of dollars is being hoovered up from Australian subscribers and sent overseas instead of being reinvested in talent spotting, promotion, and smaller venues. Australian indie publishers continue to be sold off while predatory tech giants run price wears to send booksellers to the wall. The cultural and creative sector contributes substantially to the economy in terms of jobs and. GDP output, but most importantly, to our cultural tradition. No one else can create our culture for us. Time for reform and time for investment in ourselves. Get behind us if you haven't already so we can get arts policy bidding started.
