✨ SPOTLIGHT ✨ Zina Louhaichy’s “MEEMA AL MUSĀFIRA” @zinalouhaichy MEEMA AL MUSĀFIRA  — “Meema the Traveler” is a comedic visual love letter to my Meema — a woman who always dreamed of seeing the world, but whose health in recent years hasn’t allowed her to. Shot in my childhood home in New York City, I transformed our apartment into a green screen studio. I photographed her using my Mamiya RZ67 and filmed her on my VHS camcorder, then reimagined her traveling — from Paris to Hollywood, Morocco to Egypt, Tokyo to sightseeing in New York. Blending nostalgia, fantasy, and diasporic identity, I pay tribute not only to my Meema, but to all the women who carried dreams of elsewhere but sacrificed them for family and survival. Directed, Shot & Edited by Zina Louhaichy/ Assisted by Yomna Mohamed Check out the full film TOMORROW NIGHT!! 7-10pm at KGB Bar ✨🍸 Tickets $10, link in bio 🎟️

✨ SPOTLIGHT ✨ D. Nanos’s “Aferdita” @nanobiite D. Nano is an emerging artist who explores expansive documentary and archival practices through image-making, filmmaking, collage, and community-oriented initiatives. Their work engages with themes of diaspora, queerness, and alternative forms of knowledge-making that embrace fluidity and resist rigid hierarchies. Their background as a first generation Albanian-American informs their thinking about memory, land, borders, and boundaries.  “Aferdita” was shot on a Canon C200 . This film, made in 2022, was originally a response to the word/prompt “dream”. It took me on a journey of piecing together my grandmother’s interior life: her world of dreams, pleasures, desires, wonder, and so on...an internal world that I felt closed off from for most of my life. Her granddaughters, myself and my youngest cousin, play versions of her at different stages of her life.  D. Nano: Director/DP/Editor  Ama Buzo: Assistant DP Playing this Sunday 4/26 at KGB Bar, 7-10pm.
