International Women’s Day -A Call for Action & The First Look at The Shadow
Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and brilliance of women around the world. But we also acknowledge a hard truth—not all women are free.
Too many women continue to suffer in silence, trapped by cycles of domestic violence, abuse, and trauma. Too many lives are lost to suicide, leaving behind unanswered questions and unbearable grief. Stories like these often go unheard, but they must be told.
At Banskota Productions, we believe in using storytelling as a force for change. That’s why today, on this important day, we are unveiling the first look at the official poster for The Shadow—a film that confronts the harrowing realities of domestic violence, fear, trauma, and mental health struggles. This project is deeply personal, shedding light on the battles many fight behind closed doors.
Our commitment to action goes beyond filmmaking. Kirtana Banskota, the director of The Shadow, is also a Board Member and President-Elect of Asian Family Support Services of Austin (AFSSA), an organization that provides crucial resources to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking in the Asian and immigrant communities. Advocacy must be actionable, and AFSSA is on the frontlines ensuring that no survivor feels alone.
