Going on a european tour with azealiabanksforever wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card but it looks like the vision board had other plans. Life moves in strange and sneaky ways—and sometimes you just land exactly where you’re supposed to without even knowing it.

a couple of summers ago, I heard a sound slither its way onto every dancefloor I found myself on: heady percussion of darbuka drums and its dancefloor-ready patterns.
those same drum patterns are drip-fed onto every end-of-year track shortlists, dancefloors and noteworthy productions we hear today, reverberating from continent to continent.

truth is, we often forget the revererence that dance holds. it can be competitive, it can be explorative, it can be erotic. it can be a matter of tension & release, escapist, ritualistic, and even voyeuristic, but most notably; it can be political.
