Playing the @hybridguitars Tele 7 with my Groundup Fest friend @itswillshine ! Sorry buddy I don't know how to put your video in there but thanks for the Groove!! Will asked folks to record over his reel today (check it out on his page!) so I sat down and wrote this little thing for the Hybrid. It's fun to be able to call & response yourself! Lol Will & I met at @groundupfest last year and I'm always thankful for that festival and the lasting connections I've made there over the years. Maybe we'll make it back again soon!

Athens!! What a delight. A night full of listening and thoughtful collaboration 🙏 Drummer, Singer & FatBack Collective mastermind Will Shine put together a really killer band of Athens talent that was willing to play a bunch of original music with no rehearsal, and they ALL rocked it. I didn't know any of them before the gig (except didgeridoo extraordinaire Will MacGavin, coincidentally) and it was such a pleasure meeting & sharing the stage with these fine folks: @gnarly.g @inkleined @eo_keys @wtonks @zachbstone @macgavinwoodworks And the man himself: @itswillshine We had such a great time & I can't wait to be back. It's not every day I get to do a bass solo in a cave! Playing the first Cave Fest with @theyellowdandies was so cool; Everyone on staff and in attendance at @thecavernstn was impossibly nice and supportive. String band festivals seem to have a way of getting the most chill folks in the country in one place for a weekend at a time. It was so good seeing so many old & new friends (Birmingham, you showed UP!!) and watching some of the best pickers in the world do their thing in a such a relaxed & receptive setting. Can't wait for next year! --------------- @theyellowdandies have some more fun stuff coming up too! We're headed to Trussville & ATL the first week of November: 11/3 - Opening for @thesteeldrivers (!!) at @ferusales in Trussville! Music starts at 7pm. 11/5 - We're back at the @chompandstomp Chili Cook-Off & Bluegrass Festival! This is such a good time in the @cabbagetownusa neighborhood. Check out @chompmusic for the full lineup!! 11/6 - Playing the afternoon shift at the @beerwildheaven in Avondale Estates before we head back to Birmingham; Music starts at 3pm! we’re so excited to have quilts from Jenna Clark at the cottage. join us THIS FRIDAY 5/8 for HOME ONCE, a visual installation and musical performance from Jenna with collaborators Ryan Brown, Jasper Lee and Sam Herman. each quilts is based on stories of home from each collaborator, and those collaborators will accompany her musically in a thematic soundscape played live over the course of the night. expect 3-4 short sets of about 20 minutes scattered through the night. stay a little while, stay a long while, just be sure to stop by! SUPER excited to announce the debut performance of the #FatBackCollective at @dead_beat_athens on 4/22! @_radryan (Birmingham, AL) and myself met at @groundupfest in Miami, 2025. We followed each other on insta and went about our lives. I posted a groove the other day that I suggested people duo/repost playing over. Ryan took me up on my request and proceeded to rip a tasty #hybridguitar part on top of what I played. Obviously, the logical next step was to book a video shoot and a show on the same day 😅!
