Central Asia vlog post
While lying in the sand with my hands over my stomach, I think, “how did I get here?” I’d been throwing up for hours and hadn’t slept more than ten minutes at a time. My mind runs in circles: “This is really bad — we are literally in the middle of nowhere.” Being on this river was a lifelong dream I didn’t even know I had. Here I was, officially on the legendary Sary Jaz River. It was night one of nine, and all I hoped for was to stop throwing up.

Pyranha has been so generous in supporting the LW Race over the years. Pyranha is one of the main brands we see on our rivers here in the Gorge. Why you ask? The people! They have a great team and rep living right here in town paddling everyday! 🤟 We are raffling off a brand new Kayak straight from their warehouse! Do not need to be present to win and link in bio to buy tickets 🎟️
Finally went through our Madagascar footage to edit a video of my solo descent of the Namorona river. Here are a few clips from the trip 🇲🇬 Check out YT for more.
Some of my favorite iPhone shots from the recent trip to Madagascar
thanks @ravony.andry for shuttle logistics, reach out if ever looking to paddle on the island, and @dragorossikayaks for the DRX
And thanks to the crew for making it happen

Manampatrana turned out to be a bit more of a mission then we expected. When the locals told us to start paddling from the tiniest water stream through the fields, we were not quite convinced but eventually, after way too many U-turns, we made it to the river. We portaged around some mega stouts, got rained on everyday, a few siph pile rapids and a boxed in section seemed to appear out of nowhere. The flat water sections were crazy long, and of course we had head winds most of the way. It was all pretty marginal but somehow it all worked out (- ish !)
