Born in 1990 in Nogales, his work is rooted in the flavors, memories, and traditions of Sonora—where fire, meat, and flour tortillas are not trends, but a way of life. He grew up around this food not as an idea, but as something lived daily. It carries the stories of his family, his community, and the border that shaped him.
Cooking, for him, is an act of preservation and translation. He isn’t interested in reinventing these dishes beyond recognition, but in honoring them with intention—using fire, restraint, and respect for ingredients to let them speak clearly. The process is physical and direct: mesquite, smoke, time, and hands. Nothing is hidden.
Working in Phoenix has allowed him to express this identity in a place deeply connected to Sonoran culture. With that comes a responsibility—to represent it honestly, without dilution, and to create space for it to be recognized at a level it hasn’t always been given.
At its core, his work is about connection: between past and present, Mexico and the United States, the kitchen and the people at the table. It’s about making food that feels familiar to some and revelatory to others, without losing its origin.
He cooks to remember where we come from—and to insist that where we come from matters.
