The intention Lor brings to the process of working a project has been a welcome influence to my own process of approaching goals. Watching someone mindfully navigate the pitfalls of something that starts out feeling impossible, without shame or self-reproach, reminds me that of course that’s how all progress should be made. Lor, though, seems to do it with a particular kindness and style. @lor_sabourin

If you’re familiar with Amity’s climbing, you’ve probably seen her pick ambitious goals and then dig to the absolute bottom of her tank to see them through. The PreMuir seemed no different, and maybe even more so than usual. In the finest company, I got to rap in with a resupply and trade belay and shooting duties with front row seats. Late on day 11 on the wall, Amity repointed the final 13c, pitch 31, sending her 5th free El Cap route. @amity.warme @felipesh

The first year I visited, Dylan would only let me scrub at his new crag, but on the second visit he relented and took me up the towers. Too bad it’s not always that sunny up there. @sometimesdylan @kelsonak

I had never thought of myself as someone that would get very excited about footraces, but maybe the ultra community has something figured out. The particular thematic focus on the average heroes and not just the elite field brought it especially well into focus for a welcome show of human goodness. @rabbitwolfcreative @stephenkersh @ryan_sterner @kirkmuirhorton @gwilliees @jaycekolinski @wser #Mile99

I knew JB and Karasu had been working on a new route on the other side of the canyon for a while and jumped at the opportunity to join them for a weekend before they closed the book on it. After some dusting on the way down and some hauling on the way up, I got to watch it go free on lead for the first time: Jisaboke 5.12b (the name meaning jet lag/time confusion in Japanese). @karasu.tokioka @thujathoughts

There’s magic down south - there for the discovering and rediscovering. It’s hard to ask more of your legs but the rewards that come in oceans of granite, big old trees, and high caliber humans more than suffice. @compostandhoney @daniel_pastene_fotografia @hotrhaude @lucasharper3 and so many more..

The last people I climbed with in Chile this winter were the first people we met on the hike in, a team of Germans that made for five-star campground neighbors when they weren’t on the wall (think crepes and campstove bread..). It was my treat to be the first on their route after days of laborious improvements. @world.wide.wiel

I had heard Joel’s name plenty of times in relation to his list of hard first ascents around northern Arizona and through our mutual friends. Hanging out with him while he worked a steep project, I realized he’s actually a really nice guy too, besides being wildly motivated. @joelunema

Last minute thanksgiving river plans were even colder than anticipated, but luxurious amenities and good company had us feeling good about our decisions in the end. @the.untamed.escapade @compostandhoney
