As you can see, I’m not the greatest at restoring plants but I can definitely restore a Hat to it’s former glory. 🤷🏽‍♂️ #MrHat #Hatsonly #Hatrestoration #blackcreativesmatter

Sometimes those with the biggest impact have the smallest following. Don’t wait for a black creative to start trending for you to WANT to work with them. #blacklivesmatter #blackcreatives

Life really is trip, one minute I’m fit and healthy working out everyday and the next I’m in hospital having an emergency surgery. I started writing most of this whilst I was in hospital. I figured I’d share this with the hopes that someone will continue the conversation in their place of work, in order to bring forth change. . . . As a Black creative I believe in creating my own opportunities, I don’t wait for permission, support, funding, sponsors or press. I just start! Everything I do as a creative has been to shine the light on unrecognised talents that are often over looked. Wherever possible I always find a way to work with the community and to work with real creatives who are great at what they do, who are consistent with substance at their core and those who don’t rely on numbers to show their worth but instead let their work speak for them. . . It’s a pretty challenging road to travel as a black creative so many of us have stories about our experiences within the creative industry that would shock you. But it’s unlikely many would speak out, due to the fear of losing their jobs or being ignored. But if you’re reading this and you work within the creative industry please continue to let your voices be heard, change may look slow right now but a shift is taking place. . . Brands it’s time to really step up and do better. It’s not enough to just say and post #BLACKLIVESMATTER do something to show that you BELIEVE BLACK LIVES MATTER. Speak to us, invite us in to consult, hire more black creatives, let us produce BIG campaigns that reflect us in a positive way, let our voices be heard, look into your working environment, the list goes on. . . Brands PLEASE don’t let this just be another post that you ignore, I have a long list of black and brown creatives who are EPIC at what they do, going unnoticed. . . So let’s change that! 🎩x

I was invited down to the @airbnb New York office to speak as part of their entrepreneurial series for BLACK history month. I spoke on my creative process, how I’m doing my bit to contribute to saving the environment with my hat restoration business, my passion for experiential marketing and what events I’m working on next, how I turned a “No you can’t wear your hat here” into #HATSONLY a hat business producing hat parties around the world with hat icons like @erykahbadu and my experiences growing up BLACK British in London and now New York. Thank you Kristel Rodriguez and team Airbnb for having me. 🎩x
