I am a competitor.
What started as a small, selfish goal — to prove I could commit — turned into something much bigger. I thought “The Shift” was just a play on words. A new direction. A physical transformation. But it became something deeper: a shift in purpose, in identity, and in the way I saw myself.
Bodybuilding challenged me more than I expected — not just physically, but mentally. At times, I felt I was becoming someone I didn’t recognise. But I realised: to become the best version of yourself, you sometimes have to face the worst. That version of me taught me hunger, resilience, and a deeper appreciation for the process.
As a powerlifter and coach, I’m used to measurable progress. In bodybuilding, I had no idea how I was tracking. That uncertainty was the hardest part — not the calories, not the cravings, but not knowing if I could actually be great on stage. Being asked for answers when I was still figuring things out was overwhelming.
That’s where my coach
@hyprepp came in. His reassurance kept me grounded. His leadership gave me direction when I needed it most.
And now — here we are. We showed up. Followed the plan. And walked away with more than I imagined: winning every category (First Timers, Novice, Open) and earning an NBA Pro Card

This journey has been nothing short of transformative. And this is just the beginning. We’ll take the time to rebuild, refine the physique — and return as a better athlete and, more importantly, a better person.
To Ruby
@rubyyjean — thank you for your love, your patience, and for holding it down when I couldn’t. I couldn’t have done this without you. I can’t wait to be your husband.
