I needed a few days to decompress after such a mammoth couple of months working on this project! Bringing MAGNITUDES to life at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Saturday night was a dream. Thank you to each member of the MESS Synthesiser Orchestra who open heartedly took on the challenge with warmth and enthusiasm. Eternal gratitude to the @artscentremelbourne and the whole @mess_ltd team for thinking big and making MESS at the Bowl happen. It was a privilege to be part of this project and part of a line up filled with so many inspiring artists making amazing work. Special mention must go to Paul Lim and team MESS for literally moving a mountain to make it all happen.
There were many supremely talented people involved in the production but maximum love and respect must go to @casericey who made everyone sound incredible on the night and @carlazimbler who created stunning visuals that literally flawed us all.
We are lucky to have events like this happen here in 2021. Love and strength to our friends in other parts of the world who are doing it tough right now. ‘Pink Boy’ is part of a series of works and soundscapes entitled 'Unplayed', an elegy for abandoned machines and human redundancy in general.

Putting my rock & roll cap on to play drums with old pals @savakband for 2 shows and a studio album in May.
I first recorded with Sohrab at @stevievanzandt Renegade Studios in NYC back in 2014 with the golden ears of @geoff_sanoff . It was a treat to experience making music in those studios. Darlene Love was recording during the day, then we would go in during the evenings. An honour to bath in that resonant energy 💓
12 years later, and we get to do it again, this time with the inimitable Nick Brown on bass & then @michaelbeach___ for some studio love in Tassie.

Huge honour to have my work Magnitudes featured on Jarvis’ return to @bbc6music for Someday Service earlier this week.
Magnitudes was composed in 2021 for the first realisation of the @mess_ltd Synthesiser Orchestra. It was a unique opportunity to create a work that featured and celebrated the famous MESS Studio Collection.
I sent it…24 synthesisers & 16 vintage rhythm machines conducted by me with a 16 person ensemble. Tonnes of analogue electronics - modular & keyboard, plus a CMI Fairlight.
