Given: 2+2 is the commingling of two duos, Sweet Lips & Touch Me, Don’t Forget Me. This show is the presentation that documents the process and result of a game - one designed to find common footing between the two duo’s, and bridge their sets of practices.
Sweet Lips is an avant-pop & sound art duo consisting of Owen Kurtz & Sierra Weston. They have exhibited their past audio installation “ARTPOP & Us” at the plumb, Summer 2025 and have released an EP in 2024 called “Sweet Lips Debut”.
Touch Me Don’t Forget Me, is a shared research practice between Elena Kirby and Masumi Rodriguez, involving material making and fibre processing of “invasive” plant species and the relationships connected with these plants.
The show opens on October 19th and is open Sundays & Mondays 12-4PM until November 3rd. There will be a closing reception on November 2nd at 6PM with a special performance from the pairs.
Here is a little moment from our show, 𝘛𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘭 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬, and the afterwards from our booklet, written by Chloe Gordon Chow:
“It’s a life practice to navigate how to sustain a material practice amidst systems of extraction and harm. There are tensions inherent to this work. It’s a spiral tunnelling deeper into the ground. How do we work with what we’ve got? And notice that there’s already so much here?”
✳️Thank you to all who have supported us, passed through the space, and came with helping hands ✳️

Tunnel Mound Comeback showcases work that stems from “invasive” plant species. Each artist addresses a form of relationship towards the plant material they work with.
We place quotation marks on the word “invasive” as a way for us to leave room to think about how this word informs our relationship to these plants, and the ways we use this word outside of a plant context.
Elena Kirby (Tkaronto), Masumi Rodriguez (Tiohtià:ke/Montréal) and Emi Takahashi (Tiohtià:ke/Montréal) create work surrounding the plant known as dog-strangling vine. In conversation with the show, artist Bhavika Sharma (Tkaronto) takes on the plumb bar using a weedy/migrant plant known as phragmites.
