As winter slowly begins to loosen its grip, Electronic Gateways welcomes Call and Response, a Kassel-based label and event series devoted to a special niche within house and techno culture.
Rooted in Kassel’s local scene yet reaching far beyond it, the collective focuses on forgotten gems from the early days of electronic club music — sounds that shaped dance floors long before trends and algorithms. Through carefully curated settings, Call and Response treats music not as background, but as dialogue: between past and present, local and international, artist and listener.
More than just events, the project understands electronic music as a cultural platform grounded in diversity, exchange, and community. In conscious contrast to purely commercial formats, Call and Response emphasizes artistic intention, thoughtful curation, and the creation of sustainable spaces that strengthen regional scenes while fostering international connection.

For our first night of the year, Chaos Disco Club brings together two selectors who move beyond trends and formulas — focused on sound, atmosphere and long-form journey
Paolo Meloni (Barcelona)
Italian-born and Barcelona-based, Paolo Meloni is a vinyl-only DJ whose roots go back to the clubs of Sardinia, where he began DJing at a young age. Over the years, he became an active part of Barcelona’s underground scene, refining a sound built on deep digging and long-form musical storytelling.
His sets move through house and electronic music with warmth and restraint, allowing tracks to breathe and narratives to unfold naturally. In 2023, Paolo co-founded the vinyl-only label Diggers Society Records together with Ale Carniel, releasing music by artists such as Francesco Farfa, Miki, Luca Piermattei, Giuseppe Angeloro, Two Phase U, NND and more — a clear reflection of his dedication to records, craft and timeless sound.
Masch (Kassel)
Based in Kassel, Masch is one of the driving forces behind Call and Response, a label and event series rooted in intimate club settings and carefully curated lineups. His selections move fluidly through house, electro, new beat and trance, guided by atmosphere and intuition, creating subtle shifts in energy throughout the night.
