Here’s a tool I came up with a while back that’s been refined by some smarter guys than me at @theloothgroup and is now available from @_loothtool_ It allows you to go free range with the Fret Press Caul from @stewmac_guitar instead of being attached to an arbor press or a drill press. Thanks to everyone from The Looth Group’s hive mind who helped with this!

What’s the most important part of a saddle? Top or bottom? Yes. Obviously the top radius and string length compensation is really important, but the flatness of the bottom makes a huge impact on the transfer of the string vibration that drives the top of an acoustic guitar. Making that happen by hand is a bit hit and miss which is why I love this tool from @stringpluckery so much. A perfectly perpendicular flat bottom every time on a nut or saddle is attainable with this tool.
