In Lagos, it’s hard to go a day without seeing his picture on a bus or car. Go to any traditional or birthday party, and you’re sure to hear his songs. Even the new generation of Afrobeats artists always pay him tribute in their music. Over 40 years into his career and still going strong, I’m really excited to bring you an exclusive #RealTalk with the one and only @officialpasuma ! This conversation was such a vibe : so much wisdom, plenty of laughs, and a lot to take away. 🌍🇲🇦 During the AFCON, football became more than a game. It was culture. Memory. Identity. From streets to packed stadiums, football runs through Africa’s veins — carrying dreams, shaping identities, and connecting generations across the continent and the diaspora. Heartbeat of Africa was created as a cultural tribute to this collective heritage. An immersive exhibition exploring the deep connection between football, culture, and everyday life across Africa. Photography, sound, textures, stories. From legends to unsung heroes. From Lagos to Abidjan, from the streets to the world stage. Heartbeat of Africa ❣️ AFCON is beyond a football competition, it’s a true panafrican celebration and it’s actually the only one that exists on this scale. That’s what we wanted to highlight by creating this platform. Through the powerful work of 22 photographers from the continent and the diaspora, this exhibition is telling our story through the lens of football, which’s here a universal language carrying pieces of our identity and narratives, to us Africans. The strong unity, within the beauty of our diversity… We carried this vision for months with so much passion and dedication, and I’m grateful beyond words to see it brought to life ! I’d be lying if I said it was easy, but I’d also lie if I said I didn’t enjoy the process.
