First @freehubmag cover ❤ During my senior year of college, I contacted Freehub Magazine for an internship. I was at a crossroads, deciding whether or not to pursue photography. My time with the team and the magazine convinced me to keep chasing this wild career, deepened my love for the mountain biking community, and taught me how powerful storytelling can be. I am so honored with this cover and extra grateful that it shines the spotlight on the women's freeride community—who are breaking barriers and inspiring more and more women to make their mark within the industry. Congrats to @jessblewitt_ , who wowed everyone at the 2021 event. This is one of manyyyy shots of her styling it out on that feature. I am also honored to share this cover feature with @nickifo , who is not only an extremely talented journalist, but someone who's inspired me with her work throughout the bike industry. Thank you, @bricemag , Brandon, and the whole Freehub team. And LASTLY, to @katieholden , who brought me out to Formation in 2019, who's always cheered me on and is such a positive force within MTB. You have helped uplifted and encouraged so many!

First ski cover! This one means so much to me 🤍 Thank you @backcountrymag , @myshellparker , and to @shannon.corsi , @sophie_danison the entire @nxusfilm crew, @badgal_brooky and @chugachpowderguides . Filming/shooting in Alaska with you all was a dream come true, and this cover is the icing on the cake. Between this and all the success we’ve experienced with Nexus, I am most proud that it came from an opportunity that Shannon, Sophie, and I created for ourselves. A little behind the image: It was shot in a AK zone called “Velvet Curtain”, which hadn’t been skied in 10 years. The snow formations were otherworldly, and we nicknamed it “corduroy for giants”. It was one of the most intense things I’ve shot, and it was incredible watching Michelle and Brooklyn put down lines on this face.

Desert thunderstorms have always made me think of watercolor paintings, so why not blend the two? On that note, can’t wait for some shoulder season desert riding 😍 - 📍- Nuwivi, Pueblos land. #mixedmedia #watercolorpainting #watercolorart #mixedmediaart #instaart #mountainartist #freeridemtb #mtbart

Last April, I had the chance to visit the Arctic in Alaska. I traveled with writer @brigidmander 63 miles north of the Arctic Circle to backcountry ski in the Brooks Range for my first feature story with @theskijournal . The amazing @seanbusby and @mollieofthenorth hosted us at their retreat center, @arctichiveak , where we learned to dog sled, watched the Northern Lights most nights, and traveled by dogsled and skis into the vast wilderness surrounding their home. We ski toured along caribou migration paths, following their hoof prints through the snow, and skied in the Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve—the only National Park in the country without a road (for now...). My favorite part of it all was the silence of moving through the mountains on a dog sled. The Arctic felt both immense and deeply quiet, and I still think about that corner of the world often. Things are changing rapidly in the Brooks Range. Since our trip, Mollie, Sean, and the Wiseman Villagers have lost their right to subsistence living, as part of a bigger plan by the Trump administration to barrel ahead with the highly controversial 211-mile Ambler road project for mining. Additional industrial development, including a proposed liquid natural gas pipeline, could further transform the region and disrupt critical caribou migration routes. What stayed with me most about being in the Arctic was the feeling that I needed less. Spending time in a place still shaped by silence, migration, weather, and community made the endless pursuit of more feel especially heartbreaking. Places like the Brooks Range are a reminder that wilderness has value beyond what can be extracted from it. Keep tabs on your public lands — the Arctic is often a warning sign for what could happen elsewhere.

“The vast, untouched beauty of Alaska’s interior is hard to grasp without being there—something @arctichiveak hopes to share. For @_katielo and me, Sean and Mollie Busby’s passion for dogs, skiing, and their adopted home was contagious. The possibility of using Arctic Hive as a base for multi-day expeditions deeper into Gates of the Arctic is already on the table,” writes @Brigidmander . Last April, Mander and Photo Editor Katie Lozancich traveled to Alaska’s Brooks Range for a backcountry ski adventure with Mollie and Sean of Arctic Hive. The key to exploring this vast landscape was the Busbys’ dog sled team—three dozen dogs. Dive deeper into the Brooks Range at the link in bio. Full story in Issue 19.4. ✍️: @brigidmander 📸: @_katielo

Many variables have to line up in ski photography—it’s part of what makes it one of the hardest things to shoot. Light. Conditions. Weather windows. The coordination between photographer and athlete. So much of it is out of your control. But when it all comes together, it feels like making magic. Vol 19 is full of magic. I feel grateful to witness what this community creates each year through @theskijournal . Looking through all your photos is such a treat. Thank you to all our photographers, writers, and our team for keeping print special. 💛

A few favorite frames from @bricycles “Thanks in Advance” film, now live! Link in bio to watch! We filmed this last August in the Mad River Valley, one of my top places to ride (such a favorite that Brice and I have shot here three times now.) Techie to Catamount is a must ride. Not gonna lie, I’m obsessed with skiing right now but watching the film has me missing bike season in New England. Can’t wait ✨ Shot for @pivotcycles @vmba802 and @josh_lawless_ crushed it on 🎥
