TNC FILM INTERVIEW | 2025: Joseph Osayande writer/director of @thekeepershort , currently crowdfunding, spoke with TNC about this project, working with lead producer @marieyosman and the need to bring authentic stories to the big screen. How important is crowdfunding for a short film like The Keeper, and what are some of the perks that you’ve been able to offer? Yeah. Crowdfunding has been essential for The Keeper. As an independent short film, we don’t have the backing of a studio or traditional investors, so Kickstarter became our way of not only raising the budget but also building a community around the story. For a culturally specific film like this, a British West African coming-of-age story, crowdfunding lets us keep full creative control while bringing in supporters who genuinely care about seeing these narratives on screen. It is also a huge morale boost because every pledge tells us that people believe in the film. And in return, we have had a lot of fun putting together perks for our backers. We have offered things like early digital access to the finished film, behind-the-scenes content, and exclusive updates so supporters can follow the journey from script to screen. We have also included thank-you credits, invitations to screenings, and limited-edition materials for those who want something more personal. The goal is to make people feel like they are not just donating. They are genuinely part of the filmmaking process. In that sense, crowdfunding is not just important for us. It has been transformative. It has helped us fund the project, of course, but it has also helped us build a community around the film before it even exists, and that is something traditional funding cannot always do. Full interview is live on our site.

SYNERGY - Movement Direction Editorial CREDITS Creative and Movement Direction: Monique Aday @moemoyo Dancers: Yanki Yau & Moses Ward @yanki.yau @moses.m.o.ward Photography and Editing: Joseph Osayande @_josephjay This was a special one for me. I’ve been so excited to release this work, and I’m so happy to showcase my creative process and vision. I created this concept with the thought of interconnected movement in mind. I wanted to create a fluid exchange of counterbalance and how this can work in harmony. Through this development, I decided the concept of weightlessness could make this visually striking as the most beautiful movements, are the ones we have less control over. Heaven and Earth. Ying and Yang. Not only am I proud of the end result, but I got to work with my long time friends and an amazing photographer to match. Thank you @yanki.yau and @moses.m.o.ward , you trusted my vision and made a stunning piece of work. Thank you @_josephjay for allowing your skills to enhance and develop this piece, your knowledge and expertise has taught me a lot. And lastly, thank you to my friends for always supporting me during this journey.
