On a personal level one of my proudest moments as a coach, though we lost the fight, we won the night.
John pushed Canelo all the way, bite down and showed incredible resilience in the lions den, endearing the Mexican people in the process.
I’ll never forget walking out of our hotel on fight night with John and 200 Mexican’s were there cheering for ‘Juan Ryder’, a special moment that will stay with us forever.
Sport brings some incredible memories with great people 🙏

Follow @caestu_sports - John Ryder shared the ring with so many top names, with wins over Danny Jacobs, a fight most think he should’ve won against Callum Smith, Jaime Munguia, Billy Joe Saunders and of course his incredibly gutsy display against then undisputed Super Middleweight World Champion & face of the sport Canelo Alvarez.
Ryder boxed Canelo in Guadalajara, battling through a broken nose and climbing off the canvas to take Canelo the distance & gaining strength as the fight went on, a display which saw him garner tons of adulation from Mexican fans.
Having spent 36 minutes trading with the Mexican star, he breaks down the elite ring IQ that Canelo shows in the ring, the subtle set ups to land shots, how he nullifies what you’re trying to do and how deceiving his feints are!
