This grill is the result of Dereck Glaser’s traditional joinery class at @newenglandschoolofmetalwork . I learned about slitting and drifting, mortise and tenon joints, forging square corners, collaring and riveting.

Completed a 390 hour welding program yesterday over at @newenglandschoolofmetalwork ! Proud to say that I am now officially a certified welder in FCAW and SMAW.

My work from last week’s blacksmithing III class at @newenglandschoolofmetalwork . I learned a lot from this class and it opened the door to a variety of new techniques and understanding. Special shout out to my instructor @dereckglaser . Thank you for your dedicated teaching, attention to process and allowance for independent discovery.
- Small shop hammer forged using 5160. Starting weight of 1lb. Hickory handle.
- Two styles of v bit bow tongs.

I spent a week up in Maine @newenglandschoolofmetalwork and learned how to forge my first pair of wolf jaw tongs. I also ventured into some scrollwork techniques and I am beginning to understand the secrets that are revealed when heating steel up in a coal forge. Excited to learn more …
