Year one of my MFA is complete.
I unexpectedly found my way into printmaking this year. First slide is a djinn named Samiel — a spirit father, lover, guide, and nemesis who lives inside a story world I’ve been building for years now. La Sirène, lwa, mother of the ocean archive, initiator into depths, is part of it too.
School is a lot. I’m grateful and having fun and soooo juiced to be on summer break. Grateful for all the growth, connections, explorations and new ways of knowing yes’ and nos and maybe maybe maybes.
It’s Spring Fest @rutgersartdesign ✨🌷✨ !! @_indiasky_ & @natytechnicolor are hosting Lunch + Student Video Screening in LAB! Wednesday, April 1, from 1-2pm. MGSA Students, faculty, staff, come hangout with us, eat and watch videos by the magnolia tree 🌳✨🌸

I turned 40❣️💫❣️
Had a big beautiful lovers ball karaoke blow out. Ayize flew in (best gift ever). So many kids and adults sang their hearts out. I have the most gorgeous community. I felt my age but didn’t look it. Had lots of big feelings. I am grateful for so many connections that allow me to feel, grow, and be in different ways.

Some work as of late🕸️
Our hands/limbs/bodies are always spinning invisible threads - holding, stretching, telling stories, pulling apart, breaking, soothing, gathering. I get my hands from my mom. As a kid, I’d sit on her lap and hold hers as she spoke, my fingers following her gestures like a marionette. Now I speak with my hands just like she did, the threads of her movements forever stitched into my own.
As a dancer so much of my expression moves through my hands, it makes sense they’d be central in the sculptures Im making. There’s something about weaving webs that feels necessary and compelling right now, I don’t think I’ll be stopping anytime time soon.
New Mexico you were a dream as always ☁️ Big gratitude for the honor of performing for the @brokenboxespodcast exhibition opening at @abqmuseum and for a sweet friend reunion in the place that nurtured some of the most important bonds in my/our life. I’m so proud to witness our evolution over the years. Our blessings are OVERFLOWING🚿 🙏🏽✨

Celebrated friends bringing medicine to the world through their work. hiked a lot, loved on kitties a lot, loved on kiddos a lot, loved on friends a lot. Got loved on a lot. Sending prayers to you all and the world, for blessed rebirth & renewal. All things are possible, including peace.

It means a lot to have an echo back that it’s heard and appreciated, cherished even.
