Vernissage tomorrow (26.03) 15-Late at @export_rotterdam with a live concert by @axel_fds and dj sets from @jellekoiter @densleyannastatia @adelebournazeauflorensa b2b yours truly! I want to also give massive thanks to @ari_versluis for putting us in contact with @keilecollectief ! And to @lineline3000 for putting together such nice posters and zines for the exhibition! Had so much fun making this hen or egg work about floorplans and barthes, with the loveliest @otsoprunnila for the 6+1 group exhibition at paradise at the end of last month!

Suomeksi kommenteissa ⬇️ Our collaborative exhibition “𝘐𝘧 𝘚𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘢 𝘚𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘪𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘴, 𝘐𝘵 𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦” is still up until Saturday at Hippolyte Korjaamo. The installation combines historical and fictional texts from personal archives and public sources, such as newspaper articles, novels and war film production documents, with direct and staged photographs. Tracing the many ways in which The Winter and Continuation Wars are maintained in Finnish collective memory in the present, the exhibition brings together research we have both done in recent years to examine the remembrance of war, militarism and trauma.  The title of the exhibitions is a quote from a letter exchanged by Finnish film director Rauni Mollberg and his friend, in which they discuss the script for Mollbergs upcoming remake of author Väinö Linnas nationally revered novel “The Unknown Soldier”. The correspondence is held in the collection of the National Audiovisual Institute. In it, Mollberg talks at length about his ambitions to create an anti-war war film and discusses the different narrative strategies through which to achieve this.  Set in The Continuation War and based partially on Väinö Linnas war time experiences, "The Unknown Soldier" and its film adaptations reflect the difficulties of creating anti-war films or literature that describe an experience of war that is unfamiliar to their audience. Written originally as a statement on the absurdity of war, today it's film adaptation is broadcast on national television on Independence Day to uphold nationalistic sentiment. The novel has now been adapted into film thrice, by Edvin Laine in 1955, Rauni Mollberg in 1985 and Aku Louhimies in 2017.
