I started listening to Bud Powell. I watched a few YouTube videos on Barry Harrisââs 6th diminished scale. I picked up the guitar. I put it down. I picked it up again. I fell in the ocean a few times. I felt good tired, not blue-light-exhausted tired. I cropped videos to 9:16 aspect ratio. I cursed my thumbs.
The best songs are made in the basement.
Preferably one thatâs international, about half an hour outside Ottawa.
We tracked this demo in probably under an hour and with @lowpeche slamming the kit and guiding my ideas through sections, the skeleton for Battery came together.
It was perfected on the westside. With a few tweaks here and there, I sent it back over to @zigproductionhouse for the mix and master. BATTERY - OUT MAY 22nd - PRESAVE LINK IS NOW IN MY BIO
Many of you have already heard me talk about this, so Iâm very excited to finally be able to share it.
Make a Fuss drops tomorrow on my Spotify. Itâs a frenetic project that sprawls in a similar way to its city of inspiration: Los Angeles.
Iâve never liked adhering to any one particular sound with music that I write. I do have a general orbit and on this patch of songs it was fun to extend the parabola, as it were.
