✨📖 HEXENTEXTE is pleased to announce the publication of Murmurations by Gabrielle Civil and Ellen Marie Hinchcliffe. Murmurations is a meditation on friendship and survival built through devotional exchange and mutual care. The book transforms elements of Civil and Hinchcliffe’s original collaborative performance into a living document, offering the archive as invitation. Civil and Hinchcliffe’s Murmurations was commissioned by Pangea World Theater and premiered in Minneapolis, Minnesota in July, 2023. The performance was made through an interweaving of sound, movement, poetry, written correspondence, community contributions, and the divinatory practices of Tarot and bibliomancy. Civil and Hinchcliffe engaged in dialogue with one another and with the audience as they built an environment from their personal collections of cassettes and feminist books. Murmurations formed a site of exchange, and became a testament to memory, friendship, creative life, survival, and the healing power of a good mixtape. ✨📖 HEXENTEXTE is pleased to announce the publication of Midnight Counsel, an unbound book that captures documents, photographs, drawings, and notes produced through a collective performance by Jennie Liu and Zoe Aja Moore that will be initiated in Spring 2026. Midnight Counsel will gather documents at the intersection of social situation, therapy, and performance; a multidisciplinary archive of a formalized web of counseling between friends and friends-of-friends as they coach each other across thresholds of vocational, personal, and physical transformations. Responding to a dire need for continuous, holistic, psycho-somatic health care which for many is inaccessible, the artists draw on skills as performance makers, body workers, writers, witches, and community organizers to create a mutual aid, give and take structure between consenting participants in need. Midnight Counsel works to undo the history of hierarchy and objectification within medicalized frameworks (ie Freud’s case studies), making visible a collaborative process of creative support through times of transition. HEXENTEXTE is a tiny self funded enterprise, so I was only able to choose two projects for publication. Next week we will announce our upcoming collaborative books. ✨✨ HEXENTEXTE is a DIY, self-funded labor of love founded by @cindyrehm in 2021. We operate with a self-sustaining model to produce modest-sized editions, with the hope of selling enough books to cover printing costs. We want to stay small, flexible + agile enough to follow our passions without the pressures of funding + profits.
