If London’s Tally Spear (@tallyspear ) isn’t already on your radar, she should be. Her latest EP, Bittersweet, is pop-rock at its finest, blending emotive lyrics with catchy hooks that will inevitably get stuck in your head all day. A week after the record’s release, Kat travelled down to London to speak with Tally. Most of the record is themed around the sudden loss of her father last year, and Tally spoke candidly about the important role the writing process played in her grieving process, as well as how her dad encouraged her music career. Last week, I decided to put my £20 kids camera to the test and try some gig photography at the Mortaga family fundraiser, a live music event raising money for the Mortaga family who are currently trapped in Gaza. Please go and support them by following and engaging with @ayman__family 🖤 The event was hosted by @monomythrecordsuk and included sets by great bands on the label including @ioband_official , @no.cameo , @mince.band and @twinsizeband , as well as a secret headline set from @artiomusic . It was great to see so many acts come out in support of such a good cause - no one should be afraid to say free Palestine and support those suffering in the genoc1de 🇵🇸 Even though this camera is marketed towards small children — it comes with a fetching purple strap decorated with cartoon pigs!!! — I really love some of the shots I got. There’s a real sense of movement and raw energy that you get in them which is often lost in an overly polished image. Anyway, what do you think? Do you think these photos are trash?
