In April last month (actually around April fools day) i had a bit part, in a silent fictional French 🇫🇷 film noir , feature film , about an artist , HEGO, Hugh draws single line portraits of People from all around the world quite often.
It's based a bit on real life but also takes generous artistic license too...herein a screenshot from some rushes I saw so far in edit suite . 💻
I guess the director saw a link between my main artistic tools 🧰 , a black pen & white paper, as synergetic to the story they wanted to show too. 🤷🏼♂️

Some fun process shots of my first painted phone "zeitgeist" which is on its final leg of 2025 Wynne prize regional tour ! It's currently showing until July @grafton_regional_gallery
The phone landscape painting was first time an iPhone was painted and exhibited apart of Archibald sulma Wynne prize atthe Art gallery of nsw in 2025. The prizes are considered the highest profile group prize exhibits in Australia . The Wynne prize is for the artistic genres of "sculpture and landscape painting" : mine combined both! , found object reused as ready made sculpture which I used as the surface to paint the landscape painting onto .
I love spending the first couple hours of a spare day drawing single line portraits and paw 🐾 traits too.

Some phone paintings from past 2 years 🤩 i been busy!
One of my phone paintings "zeitgeist" was selected apart of Wynne prize in 2025, the first time such a work (part painting part sculpture but also on a real "smart" phone ) has been chosen as a finalist in the Archibald , Wynne & sulman prizes (Australia's most high profile group prize exhibit) the 2025 Wynne prize is currently doing it's national regional tour apart of the 2025 selected finalists for the Wynne prize.
For context the Wynne prize 🏆 is Australia's premier*/ most high profile/ most public hype , landscape and sculpture prize (weird combination of genres but that's what was in the persons will when they gifted $ for the prize!). It's cool cause my artwork is part "found object" /part "landscape painting" so serendipitously it fall into both genres.
The scale of the work also links to historical Australian painting techniques re scale and surface related to plein air painters who painted on old "wood tobacco lids" back in the 1800s and which was exhibited @ngvmelbourne in 2010s.
The first portrait Ive painted on a phone was of performer and creative director @miss_ellaneous_ben aka @bennygraetz .
I recently travelled to Italy to paint (the art and crowds surrounding: ) 🎨 Michelangelo sculpture "David" @galleriadellaccademiafirenze and "birth of Venus" painting 🖼️ in Florence @uffizigalleries on "smart" phones 📱 too.
My phone painting "zeitgeist" is currently completing is over year long national tour at its final regional gallwry stop at @grafton_regional_gallery and will be there along with many other finalists artwork of extremely high calibre for another 2 months 📲 🖼️🎨 go check out out!
The "zeitgeist" body of work i started 2 years ago is a commentary on how for better or worse we consume most of our lives increasingly online through little screens including who we meet and what art and nature we see for the first and sometimes only time (through a phone and sometimes never in real life too).
