Unpinned: the 30 year rise of girls wrestling in Indiana.
The IHSAA sanctioned girls wrestling in April of 2024, but the first girls wrestling tournament happened in 1996 at Beech Grove High School. Girls opportunities in wrestling were withheld. Now, they have the opportunity to grow into their own.

Pray and Play for Jill Errett: A Picture Story.
Light gray ‘Pray and Play for Jill’ t-shirts littered the grandstands of a Plainfield Quakers girls soccer game on a sunny August evening. Parents, players, friends and family began to gather waiting patiently for their friend, a beloved soccer mom named Jill Errett. She has been battling stage 4 glioblastoma a fast-growing aggressive brain cancer.
Jill received hundreds of hugs that evening, but I think the one that mattered the most was the hug from her daughter sophomore Bailey Errett (8) after she scored her first ever varsity goal that evening. It was the goal that would lead to their win over Whiteland. Though the Quakers won, tears began to fall from the faces of the girls soccer team as they gathered around Jill after the game. It might be the last time Jill will watch them play. Ten days later, Jill passed away in her home surrounded by her family.
In one day, the Plainfield girls soccer team cried in the back room of a funeral home as they watched their teammate say goodbye to her mother. Later that evening, they loaded onto a bus and played game against Perry Meridian. Though Jill isn’t here with them in the stands, there’s this feeling they still play for her.
I’ve been doing this job for five years and each year there’s always a story that pulls at my heart. This story is about hope, sisterhood, and what teammates will do for each other. Thank you Plainfield girls soccer. And thank you Bailey, for letting me in during this difficult time. This story is not done yet. IHSAA girls soccer Sectionals is right around the corner and I think something special is happening with this team.

It isn’t perfect, but it might be.
For the past two months I haven’t thought about anything but #indianafootball. This experience feels like a fever dream. Rewatching games and reading stat sheets at airport bars. Hotels, media credentials, media lounge, catching shuttle buses, and racing up down sidelines.
Last night was a bucket list event for me. I got to share the sidelines with so many of my friends. I wish I had the good idea to start documenting the past 25 days sooner.
Thank you to everyone who made this experience so wonderful. Happy endings do happen for Indiana sports. It has been an honor. Thank you Hoosiers🫶🏻
