I play many roles in life – friend, partner, event curator, community organizer, podcaster to name a few - BUT the most important role is Mother. Despite how vocal I am about reminding the world that this is not my ONLY title, it is the one that has by far shaped me the most. Although we tend to feel like we lose parts of ourselves in motherhood, those parts always remain.
I’ve kept those parts of me alive through my love for sneakers and streetwear and, through that, I also found my community. I’ve connected with so many likeminded mothers on this journey and it has not only reinvigorated my style but also has elevated it. I rediscovered the little girl who would beg her parents for the latest kicks at footlocker, borrowed all her older sister’s clothes (starting from Ecko Red jackets to Blazer basketball jerseys and everything in between). Memories like these evaded me in my first strides in motherhood, as I searched for what I felt needed to be a new identity but I’ve found my footing, my grounding, in honoring my past and now sharing it with my children.
In what we wear and how we wear it, I hope to teach my kids the value of honoring each season of ourselves in our style. Paying homage to the past while being very much in the present.
@flymomsclub and
@motherlovingpodcast are a labor of love to me, being our contribution to those around us, but also the league of moms coming up behind us. In who we are, we’re building a space for moms searching for just that and
@girlswhodresslikeboys reminds us of the parts of us outside of motherhood. It’s the part that keeps us exploring our style and who we are outside of it. This synergy of brands is what community IS, and I’m happy to be a part of the real deal.
Through this amazing collab, we are celebrating mothers all month long! Stay tuned for more to come!
