Welcome to Northcote House, a lush sanctuary tucked within Ruckers Hill, featuring our Oslo floorboards.
Reimagining a double-fronted Victorian for contemporary family life, the home layers natural stone, timber joinery and soft textiles into a calm, enduring palette. Our Oslo boards quietly anchor these spaces, flowing from living to kitchen and stairs in a seamless sweep. The result is a serene, cohesive sanctuary where refined materials and everyday comfort meet.

Sometimes we look at a finished project and assume the journey was clean, confident, and perfectly mapped… But if Courtenay’s path to Helen St reminds us of anything, it’s this:
It takes time, due diligence and courage.
She joined BuildHer back in COVID (yep, 2021 — remember that blur?), spent years researching, running feasibilities, looking at duplexes, exploring every possible direction… all before she even found the courage to choose a project. And then Helen St popped up.
That moment, the quiet decision to finally go for it, looks different for everyone.
But it’s always built on the same foundations: having the right knowledge + community behind you.
Because the truth? No one wakes up magically ready.
You grow ready. Step by step. Question by question. Feaso by feaso.
So if you’re somewhere between “researching forever” and “I think I can do this…”
You’re exactly where Courtenay once was. And look how far she’s come!
Your journey won’t look the same, and it’s not meant to. But starting? That part can be easier.
Our courses give you the knowledge.
Our community gives you the confidence.
And you bring the magic.
Here’s to backing yourself!

Picture this. You walk in from a long day at work to be greeted by a soft, calming palette and the sunshine streaming in. You take a seat on your sofa, pour yourself a glass and take a deep breath*. Welcome home.
*Various scenarios could be played out here. We’ll leave it up to you to decide what happens next 😎

A big thank you to our DevelopHer Courtenay of @_flintmade for walking our members through her latest dreamy Helen St project earlier this week.
You really have to be on site to appreciate the design and beautiful craftsmanship of this beautiful project. It’s all about the feels, and you definitely get warm and welcoming vibes inside. You can start imagining your own family running through the living room, jumping into the pool while enjoying a wine by the outdoor fireplace.
Best of luck with the sale Courtenay, can’t wait to see the result of all of your hard work.

The yellow was fun, but 👋
Stripped back to frame, new skirts, cornices, arches, calming colour and appropriate accessories, thank you!

Dreamy master suite details.
Worked closely with @heylaurenegan to get the colours just right. Went a little more dramatic in master and used Haymes Haze. Love it against the Mokum - Satori Stonewash in Ocher from @homeproau
- Large his and hers walk in robe
- Make up mirror and bench
- Skylight for natural light

Just a little fixer-upper...
Ok, maybe I was a little naive. I really believed the project would be relatively straightforward and finished within 18 months to two years at most. In reality, it took over three years, with all the usual building challenges thrown in along the way.
There were time blowouts in town planning, build costs came in much higher than anticipated, and I ended up having to virtually rebuild the heritage portion from the frame up. It was quite a journey, and I don’t regret any of it. It’s pretty incredible to see the vision come to life, every decision and selection agonised over now finally complete.
Sometimes, we forget where we started when bringing these beautiful homes back to life. What a privilege.
