An object, a memory, something small, something strange - anything that carries meaning for you. Instead of putting a price on it, you share its story. Why this thing? What does it hold? I’ve been wanting to bring this workshop into a shared space for a while, and I’m glad to finally open it. On the 12th of April, at the @electricshadows studio, I will facilitate a session that combines a short screening, discussion, and a hands-on editing exercise where participants construct a sequence under strict constraints. No intercutting, no added text, only what the footage contains, and what it refuses to show. You should join if you: – have experience with editing – work with film, video, or archives – want to think critically about the ethics of the image You will need: – a laptop with editing software installed (e.g. Shotcut) – familiarity with basic editing Please note: the workshop space is not accessible for participants with mobility impairments. It follows the connections forged during the conference, examines gender mainstreaming frameworks, and explores the rise of grassroots, queer movement and digital rights alongside the backlash these activists now face. Studio Update goes as the following 🧿: 🫆@malazusta is doing an artist residency in Marseille and preparing for an open studio 🫆@plum404 Mei ventured to Venice and participated in the Biennale College Blend with her new project in development ‘My Body is a Resonance Chamber’, she LARPed hard and and met many wonderful people🦕. She had also started a new chapter as artist in residence at @janvaneyckacademie 💚 and had a girl’s night in with @sun.ra.zan to taste the weird taste of Mate🧉for the first time in her life! 🫆@mahsa.koochak Mahsa Koochak presented Touchscape: Camping Beyond Reasoning at Beyond the Black Box Festival. An immersive one-on-one tactile journey—blindfolded and guided by a rope—inviting participants to navigate through touch and rethink connection beyond the visual. 🫆Razan Hassan @lifeiscinemawith_razan is about to facilitate a workshop with @devoorkamerproject in Utrecht as she develops her film plan and sketches some for the comic sequences in her upcoming film. ♥️🧿♥️

The installation includes their audio archive of personal stories of family gatherings and inviting the audience to leave theirs, while having cake. 🍰 P8-10: Eva @lycheeva worked as a dramaturg for ‘Make It Fit’ at Tempel Amsterdam, and made desserts with osmanthus flowers 🪷

Our studio’s monthly update ⭐️ 1) Mei (@plum404 )will present ‘Homesick for Another World: a film unfolding in space’ - the (hopefully) final iteration of the 3-year research project from Nov. 7-9th at TOKAS Open Site 10, Tokyo. Malaz is the co-writer and co-performer of this project ✨ (ticket info: https://shorturl.at/nOKcZ) 2) On Sep 20th, Mei & Malaz (@malazusta )showed a WIP version of the work to fellow shadows in the studio 3) Experimenting with scenography using salt and water... (important materials from lucid dream technique taught in the show! It lies at the intersection of personal truth and collective memory, investigating the subversive power of encryption, silence and poetics. When they say that there is a “correct” collective memory … is my body guilty for holding a piece of memory that deviates from it?  …or is my mind guilty for wanting to forget? ——— Eva (@lycheeva ) is an artist, a creative facilitator, and a member of the Shanghai-based performance collective @_ao_ao_ing ensemble. She works through performances, workshops, social practices and engages with curatorial models. Her works often arise from the mundane of everyday life. It was a great time! @sun.ra.zan @lifeiscinemawith_razan ✨ Aline @aline.olmos dazzled everyone with her presentation, “The Origin of the Future,” at the @amsterdamfringe from September 6th to 9th at @stichting_likeminds ! ✨ Mahsa @mahsa.koochak has been collaborating with Aline @aline.olmos on the “Origin of the Future” project. ✨ Mei and Malaz @plum404 @malazusta are working on a new iteration of Homesick for Another World: a film unfolding in space.
