It has been a year - almost a year - since I documented anything here, almost a year since studying was over, since the City Lit final show.
I logged in to make a post about life now (and I will) but I’m stuck chronologically, and first, feel the need to finish documenting this ending…almost a year late.
Rereading and sharing the thoughtful words of @brigit.connolly and @sararadstone who led, and tutored.
‘Something to Hold Onto’
Objects of non-religious worship, as part of ‘Uncommon Ground’- our City Lit graduation show at The Crafts Council Gallery, June 2025.
This show marked the end of two years of study and I want to say thank you…
To my tutors at @citylitarts for the wisdom, kindness, and encouragement. To my cohort @citylitceramicsdiploma2325 for the support, being on this journey together. To @craftscouncil for the beautiful space, and hosting us. To @jameschampionphotog for documenting it. To @dommrw (and Ben) for the metalwork. To my friends, partner, and family, for the cheerleading and love.
Introducing ceramics diploma artist Dixie Pace @_dixiepace_
“I see clay as an instrument of presence, a playground for thought, and a remedy for nihilistic existentialism. In response to the material’s nature, my work aims to embrace contradiction and non-dualism—both frivolous and sincere, playful and austere.
My practice extends into performance, public space, and fabric, but throwing is at its core—for the joy it offers and the grounding exchange of energy that takes place at the wheel.
Currently, I’m exploring what and how we ‘worship’ in a time of secular individualism—seeking the numinous experience outside of traditional religion”.

Another recent collaboration — this time with the talented ceramic artist, @dixiepace_ceramics . For her final project at @citylitceramics , Dixie created a sacred object of worship. We took it to the most soulless place on the island — Canary Wharf — where she performed a series of rituals. Meaningless? Perhaps. But are they any more meaningless than our daily worship of the gods of capitalism?
An exchange. Oppositional ceramics.
Yesterday marked the end of my first year of the CityLit Ceramics Diploma. Yesterday was for celebrating, today is for reflecting. Thanks to the tutors, thanks to my cohort…grateful to be sharing this experience with you all.
