Catch me at @ucr_dance this Friday! 🕺🏾✨ I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be sharing my research and facilitating a workshop at UC Riverside’s Experiments in Dance conference this week! Whether you’re a dancer, scholar, or someone who knows that the dance floor holds secrets, I’d love to have you in the room. Bring your own “artifacts” (photos, songs, memories) and let’s chart a map home together. 📍

✨ thank you, family ✨ I’m still feeling deeply held after this past weekend’s run of notes on building a foundation, 1963 at @calartsredcat New Original Works Festival Sharing this work, rooted in memory, legacy, and the stories we carry, was an honor and my ancestors showed up and showed out! To our badass team, @obehiagbede @iamitohane , truly an honor to work alongside you. Each day, I am in awe of your brilliance and what we built together (in a 5-hour tech day, no less) is stellar, magical, divine, and precious. And to know this is just the beginning… Everlasting gratitude to everyone who showed up, witnessed, and filled the room with such care, and for those who tuned in virtually. Your presence truly shaped the space. Grateful to @katydid_katydoes , REDCAT and the NOW Festival for supporting this work. I can’t wait to share what’s next as the piece continues to grow. until next time, enjoy some BTS footage at the mini-documentary linked in my bio, shot and edited by @l_i_l_l_e_t_h 🎥 With love,

The third and final week of the New Original Works (NOW) Festival begins this Thursday! 11/20–11/22 see new works by Lu Coy, jeremy de’jon guyton, and Luna Izpisua Rodriguez. 🌛 Lu Coy, BECOMING THE MOON: Coy (Music Performer Composer MFA 18) crafts an opera that illuminates the Florentine Codex’s account of Tecciztecatl—a gender-expansive Mexica moon deity. 📓 jeremy de’jon guyton, NOTES ON BUILDING A FOUNDATION, 1963: Blending lyrical text, fluid movement, and nostalgic audio-visual elements, this poetic autofiction is a meditation on legacy, displacement, and the desire for sanctuary. 🏚️ Luna Izpisua Rodriguez, OPEN HOUSE: Directed by Izpisua Rodriguez (Art and Theater Directing MFA 24), is a meditation on erosion, both geological and psychic—on how losing land can feel like losing self. See the link in our bio to purchase tickets. #LAArt #CelebrateLA #ExperimentalPerformance

Thrilled to be sharing my latest work, notes on building a foundation, 1963, next week, November 20-22, at @calartsredcat 2025 NOW Festival! Swipe ➡️ to the end for a peek into our process ✨ Set in an underground bunker in 2033, this piece moves between autobiography and archival imagination, offering a critical fabulation, a survival strategy for when the world gets too hot and memory becomes the architecture that keeps us alive. Weaving together fluid movement, lyrical text, and audiovisual materials from my family archive, this work explores how stories live through the body, how we inherit and transform what’s passed down, and what it means to build a future from fragments. Join us (ticket link in bio):

📻 | Chicago, IL // November 2026 Inspired by this past week’s convening at SLIPPAGE @slippage.nu with scholars, artists, researchers thinking through the currents of Black Social Dance, its histories, its futures, its pulse in our bodies and through our communities. Thank you @thomas.defrantz @shireendance and @mcdwebster for the invitation into the constellation 💫 Grateful to the conveners and co-thinkers who made space for curiosity, rigor, and rhythm. Every conversation reminded me that our dances are living archives, moving through time, telling stories, holding memory. Looking forward to building 🧱 Grateful for the opportunity to bring my ancestors along for the ride and invite Spirit into the room to dance with us. #BlackSocialDance #SlippageLab #ResearchInMotion
