The first of two @iamjoeypearce Jackie Robinson pieces! In Jo’s words: “I made these pieces to pay tribute to my favorite card, the 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson. This card is widely regarded as Jackie’s “rookie card,” and I love the 1948 Leaf set in particular because it features bold and simple artwork layered onto vibrant backgrounds that create almost a pop art feel, with quite a few color variations that also make this particular set a real challenge to collect and complete. Jackie’s contributions to the game were massive, so it felt right to honor this card in two ways by doing a simple rendition that nods back to its original design and then creating another version to pay homage in my personal style.”

Dorothy Kamenshek by @artdeptcraft In Jamie’s words: “Dorothy Kamenshek never got a baseball card honoring her career playing in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League so I designed one for her. Her accompanying symbols include: a strawberry for the injuries sustained while playing in mandatory skirted uniforms, an eye talisman for protection, a fork representing the charm-school lessons required for female players, a healthcare cross representing her post-ball career in pediatric physical therapy, and a heart to symbolize her love and lifelong partnership with former teammate Margaret Wenzell.”

It’s a real honor to be included in Chase Cards: A Sandlot Art Book. To see my craft alongside so many other talented artists who love these players and their stories is a gift I’ll treasure forever. Dorothy Kamenshek never got a baseball card honoring her career playing in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League so I designed one for her. Her accompanying symbols include: a strawberry for the injuries sustained while playing in mandatory skirted uniforms, an eye talisman for protection, a fork representing the charm-school lessons required for female players, a healthcare cross representing her post-ball career in pediatric physical therapy, and a heart to symbolize her love and lifelong partnership with former teammate Margaret Wenzell. Satchel Page’s card is my interpretation of his 1948 Leaf card, adorned with symbols representative of his life and his career in baseball: a clock for his astonishingly long career (1924-1966) despite a potentially career-ending injury, a tire and plane for his nonstop game travel, a bottle cap symbolizing the game of Top Ball where he learned the principles of baseball, and a handbag for his nickname. Linocut on vintage silkscreen ChromaRama paper.

Inspired by the legendary Satchel Paige—his legacy, his longevity, and the impact he left on the game. Created for our friends at @satchels_labf , honoring his name and story through the LABF @labaseballfederation community. These designs are to be featured in the “Chase Cards : A Sandlot Art Book” Big thanks to @timchristopher_art for organizing and all the artists involved—grateful to be part of a project that brings such a strong creative community together ⚾️ @nlbmuseumkc

A small tribute to @jrollins11 and the impact he had on the game. I grew up watching him hold it down at shortstop, trying to mirror his style out on the field with my friends. The way he carried himself—his confidence, his energy—left a lasting impression that’s stayed with me ever since. Really grateful to be part of the Sandlot Art Book project ⚾️ Being included alongside so many talented artists in this community means a lot. Part 1 of 2 — more to come soon. #sportsillustration #sandlotrevolution #posterart #phillies
