Burns can happen to anyone, working anywhere — not just in kitchens or industrial settings. Offices and workplaces have risks too, from hot water and appliances to overloaded outlets and space heaters. Today, we’re sharing burn prevention tips for office and desk-based environments to help keep everyone safe at work. If this is your workspace… these tips are for you 👇 🧯 Keep fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and exits visible and accessible 🧯 Set hot water temperatures to 120°F (49°C) or lower to prevent scalds 🧯 Handle hot drinks and liquids carefully — test before contact 🧯 Follow chemical safety sheets, wear PPE when needed, and maintain eyewash stations 🧯 Monitor appliances while in use and keep combustibles away from heat sources 🧯 Inspect cords, outlets, and devices regularly — avoid overloading plugs and power bars 🧯 Use heaters with auto shut-off and keep them at least 3 feet from anything flammable 🧯 Practice emergency procedures and drills regularly Taking a few extra minutes for safety can prevent life-changing injuries. Calgary! Thanks for taking such a great ride down whiskey river with me last week for the first show of 2026. I had an incredible time getting to visit and play for my friends at @_cfbts_ Foothills hospital for the staff and the incredibly brave and strong patients of their burn unit, followed by a visit to the @calgaryhumane to meet the amazing staff and all kinds of beautiful animals and great work they do there. Thursday night the band and I got to play a very special retirement party for my friend @randy_wade_schmitz_ Captain of the 38 station fire department. We got to watch him ring the bell one last time after 35 years of service and spend time with his beautiful family. Through all of this we had one hell of party and raised $5000 between the Calgary burn and humane society. Honoured to be part of all of this and we can’t wait to come back. An afternoon of connection, creativity, and healing at the Sunalta Community Association 🎨🖍️💛 Our burn survivor community explored healing through Neurographica art - through simple lines, shapes, and colour, the group explored a unique way to slow down, reflect, and create space for new pathways in healing. Moments like these remind us that recovery is not just physical, it’s emotional, social, and deeply personal. Creating a safe space for expression and connection is an important part of that journey. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and shared in this experience, and proud to support initiatives that foster resilience and community.
