if you are ever in phoenix a very cool thing you should do is go to the @heardmuseum and stop by their new exhibition space “Substance of Stars”. It is a 360 degree immersive experience that I was chosen to edit a 15 minute loop of commissioned footage from Indigenous filmmakers, artists and photographers as they relate to 4 selected tribes and where they live on Earth:

Six months of work, meetings w architects, days of projector calibrations, 3 trips to the desert and countless tacos later, the space is meditative, stunning, grounding and expansive. the day before you turn thirty a dreadful mood will come to visit, bearing lament and regret for your 20s for all the time you wasted and then reactively you’ll soak it with nostalgia only to realize no amount of money could convince you to live that decade again. you’ll throw yourself a big smashing party where too many of your personal-professional worlds will collide but you’ll finally start to accept it, you’ll hug everyone who came and smile real big and best of all you’ll say thank you a million times, which is what birthdays are for. you’ll stay up too late fully aware you’re stealing from tomorrow, but when you wake up there will be a stillness where you expected a bomb to blow, then embarrassment without gritting…. and then everything is as you thought it could have been only it now actually is but you tricked yourself into thinking it wasn’t all this time even though it actually was. i’m turning thirty-[redacted] today, but that is my review of being thirty!!!

very busy and cool year on a personal level: i turned 29, i adopted a cat, i travelled, baked my own sourdough, worked on MOVIES …!!! and made so many awesome pals from those movies. my partner started pursuing music, family/friends got married and started families, i gained so much community and deepened a lot of relationships. beyond lucky happy and grateful and wishing you all the same! see you next year 🕊️
