One year after the release of MAQAM, BODUR extends the world of the album through a collaboration with jewellery designer Tabitha Charlton — unveiling a limited, handmade necklace conceived as a physical echo of the era’s sound and image. Working within Charlton’s signature scrimshaw practice, tattoo ink is etched directly onto three oyster shells, suspended from a sculptural crochet wire choker. Each piece is produced entirely by hand using raw materials and found objects. Designed as a reversible piece, the necklace draws from the Afghan chokers worn by BODUR during her MAQAM performances, tracing silhouettes reminiscent of late-90s and early-2000s gothic tribal-fusion bellydance costuming. BODUR × TABITHA CHARLTON present the MAQAM necklace. On the first anniversary of her debut album MAQAM, music artist BODUR enters into collaboration with jewellery designer Tabitha Charlton, presenting a limited handmade necklace conceived as an extension of the MAQAM era’s visual and sonic language. Rendered through Charlton’s signature scrimshaw practice, tattoo ink is inscribed onto oyster shell — suspended from a sculptural crochet wire choker. No two pieces are identical; each exists as a singular object hand-made by the designer using raw materials and found objects. The reversible necklace references the traditional Afghan chokers worn by BODUR throughout her live MAQAM performances, recalling the silhouettes of 1990s and early-2000s tribal-fusion bellydance costume — a foundational influence within the artist’s stage mythology.
