Here’s UPDATE for @kick.the.ladder ‘s weekly one minute short film challenge 🎥
The premise came from a fear I have of the talked about tech predicted to come in our lifetime. @blackmirror_series we’d love to expand upon this idea 😉
This was a very fun exercise in what’s to come for myself. Big thank you to @ldsmith2047 for working on this so quickly this week and being very fun to work with 🙏
The challenge was to keep it to 4 locations, an unaltered clock reading 11:48, and all at or under a minute. I wrote, directed, shot, and edited this all myself with the memory clips coming from Lauren’s outings this week.
Highly recommend more people giving @kick.the.ladder a try as we all could be creating and collaborating more. Really looking forward to the next one with the hopes of utilizing more collaborators. Good luck to all those presenting tonight 🤘

As fun as the storytelling side is in filmmaking, I’ll never stop being a bit of gear nerd. For our recent short UPDATE I used the @fujifilmx_us 100s with a @rokinon 50mm t1.5 EF for about 2/3 of the 1 minute we had 🤪. I loved the separation i could get on the GFX sensor at t1.5-2.2 and wasn’t expecting the nice little swirl we began to get when we were in the park 🌲 You can now watch on YouTube!

Darker concepts have always been something I’ve gravitated towards, like this for-funsies concept with my wife back when we were just friends 🥲 (maybeee 2013/2014). The allure of darker concepts comes from the feeling of honesty that they can convey vs something more high-key and bubbly. They go deeper than most want to go which, although unsettling at times, can really reflect something in people (and yourself) that we NEED to see.
I think there is something profoundly more spiritual about them as well. I’ll be writing or conceptualizing around something that can feel random in the moment but learn at various points in the process that it’s connected with something about myself.
Finding this new conduit in filmmaking has sparked a wave of energy I’m excited to start sharing in my own way. Apologies to anyone who’s felt annoyed of me lately with my golden retriever like communication but it’s just great to feel like you’ve unlocked you want to share with others.
