I was inspired recently to buy an analog real-life physical metronome old school style. Hereâs me messing around w/ it as well as some harder than usual reeds đ”âđ«đ”âđ«đ”âđ«

A little transcription Tuesday of Branford Marsalis on âSwinginâ at the Havenâ from a live gig at the Vanguard in 1989. So much good stuff in here but the real prize is his phrasing! Been chewing on this one for a few weeks now so I wanted to record it before I move on. My reed is also too soft lol

One more from @dromnyc ! Hereâs a solo over the Bird composition âKlactoveedsedsteneâ. I was feeling good about this one but I really do need to work on pacing and phrasing better. Itâs hard not to get excited playing at these fast tempos. Sometimes Iâd like to think Iâm the Dragonfly Jones of jazz saxophoneâŠ

Playing update woo wooo woooooo reed was too hard thatâs okay
Recording is an original of my good friend @gavinthegray entitled âAbout That Thingâ from Wednesdayâs hit at @dromnyc with @averywymandrums , @dylankesmith , and Gavin himself.
Played the gig in the midst of a migraine so itâs kind of like if the MJ flu game was an opener gig for like 8 people. Lol anyways one day Iâll learn to pace my solos
As I celebrate the conclusion of my formal education, Iâd like to go back and reminisce on some really cool moments from my past 2 years in NYC.
1. *Most* of the NYU Jazz Masters graduates. I love you all
2. Sitting in w/ the Jonny King Trio at Mezzrow (feat. Dezron Douglas and Billy Drummond!
3. The quartet featured on part of my (hopefully releasing eventually) first record. Thank you all for your hard work.
4. Playing with my brothers in ARAGA at Williamsburg Music Center.
5. A shot from a very cold evening in Flatbush, right outside Anything. A typical evening with my jazz family.
6. An intro to a ballad on a gig with Dezron, Jonny, and Craig Weinrib.
7. The disciples of the one and only Tivon Pennicott.
8. The ARAGA Quintet in Costa Rica!
9. A late night out in the rain w/ most of ARAGA.
10. A solo over âYou Were Youâ by my good friend Arnie during the debut of the ASMR Jazz Orchestra.
11. The NYU Wayne Shorter Ensemble in Panama.
I wish I could thank each and every one of my friends, acquaintances, and mentors. I want to be here in NYC for a very, very long time.
Seasonâs greetings, hereâs some KD at .75 speed. T-shirt in the bell. Practicing at the apartment sucks. Bebop solos at slower speeds however, do not. Shoutout Melissa #saxophone #jazz #jazzsaxophone
A huge thank you to everybody who came out to last nightâs Avery Wyman Quintet show at @sidedoorjazz in CT! Good times were had by all, what a great way to burn the calories from ThanksgivingâŠ.

Hereâs some clips from last nightâs hit at @clementsplacejazz with three incredible musicians:
@jonnyzking on piano
@dezthought on bass
@craigweinrib on drums
Iâm soloing on two tunes - an original by @jonnyzking called âThe Merry-Go-Roundâ and âNuttyâ by the great Thelonious Monk. Thank you to everybody who tuned in to take this musical journey with us.
Small appreciation post to show some gratitude towards the friends and colleagues Iâve made throughout this past year in NYC, as well as some longtime friends. I wish I had pictures of everybody. Letâs continue making music for years to come.
Hereâs a clip of a solo of mine on @chamonerafa âs tune âSinosâ from a recent ARAGA Quintet gig at @williamsburgmusiccenter . As usual, thank you everybody for coming out! #saxophone #jazz #modernjazz
Clips from Thursday nightâs hit at @fictionbar.cafe with the ARAGA Quintet! Itâs always a pleasure to play with these cats. Pay no attention to the fact that Iâm wearing the same shirt as the last post, thatâs my gig shirt.

I want to work on projecting more with a better sound, playing longer cohesive phrases, and playing more patterns/moving stuff around. As always, a work in progress. Hope you enjoy!
