Thrilled to finally announce that this year I'm supported by @Immersivearts_uk to continue my research and experimental work on Limehouse. Limehouse Déjà Vu is a 9-month R&D project exploring immersive technologies — AR/XR and immersive performance — to imagine urban pasts/futures rooted in little-known narratives, and our creative agency within them. Ever since we moved to Limehouse in 2018, I've been fascinated by its historical complexities and present-day echoes (& muteness), wondering about the things we can or cannot see, and the sounds we can or cannot hear. After several years of on-and-off research and experimentation, and an artist residency at the wonderful @towerhamletsarchives last year — friends and family, there will be MORE Limehouse this year :D I'm also very excited about working with Amin Haghpanah (@_aminhp ), creative technologist and artist, on the XR development, with more collaborations and connections to come along the way. . Wave Ode An interactive installation exploring the shifting boundary between form and meaning through language. At the center is a vintage radio. As the viewer turns the knob, a single sentence, drawn from old Persian fables, continuously transforms across a spectrum: from pure rhythm and poetic structure to full semantic clarity. The work engages with Persian poetic forms as vessels for transformation, revealing how meaning can be softened, fragmented, or reconfigured through structure. On the first day, Konstantinos told me that this instrument (📷 #1) is called Strega ~ the italian word for witch I found this a great signifier for the multimodal potion-making that followed that week, with @jchwenger @stathis_d @kostakoooo @_aminhp Revisiting some material that we explored before another round of experiments coming up next week 🧪
