I can’t believe it’s been two weeks since we wrapped principal photography on For the Culture. I was trying to find the words to capture how surreal this all feels. There are still moments when I glitch in the middle of doing something because I’m overcome with gratitude. Smiling like a lunatic in the frozen foods aisle or sending an I miss you text or DM to someone on the team. I replay every beautiful moment in my head because I’m genuinely still in disbelief. Did I really just direct my first film? Did I make a list 2 years ago of everyone I wanted on my team and get practically everyone on it? Did I get every location I imagined when I wrote the script? Did we really throw a rig on the car with no p- … Did I foster a space that felt safe and for everyone to feel essential and seen? Am I the first director to convince my crew to FROLIC after wrapping at a location, because they deserve moments of unhinged childlike wonder too? And more importantly, I highly recommend other directors do this too. None of this would’ve been possible without this kick ass crew and cast that was ten toes down for it all. It’s nothing short of miraculous when you surround yourself with amazing artists who are even better people, that fan your flames willing your dreams into reality. And for that, I hope you all know I will forever fan your flames right back. The energy is different when you find people who could’ve been on any other set, getting paid way more money than our micro-budget, but wanted to be here instead. This film is only as great as it is because of you all. Thank you to everyone who supported the film by reposting, telling your family members, showing up to our events, donating - thank you SO MUCH to the donors of all kinds - from money, to your spaces, and to your time. And a huge thank you to the East Bay business owners that said yes. The script was born from love, our set was nourished with love, and our film was handled with love every step of the way. And I cannot wait for you all to see it! I say all of this to say - thank you boo 💛 Love, Anna #fortheculturefilm #thankyou

🎬 That’s a wrap on For the Culture! 💛 This film would not exist without the incredible heart, vision, and leadership of Anna Marie Sharpe our director, writer, and star. Anna poured her soul into this story, creating a film that not only speaks to her inner child, but also honors the stories of so many of us who’ve longed to see our lives, families, and cultures reflected on screen. We are endlessly proud of her, and as a community, we are so grateful to witness and support this beautiful, bold, and healing work. For the Culture is more than a film 🎞️ it’s a love letter to where we come from, who we are, and what we dream to become. #ForTheCultureFilm #ThatsAWrap #AnnaMarieSharpe #CommunityStorytelling #RepresentationMatters #IndieFilm
