Gathered at Elmina.
From cattle to forts, from food to communities and the people who carry these histories — we came together to research, listen, question, and share.
We stepped outside our comfort zones and into conversation.
We moved, we reflected, we assembled.
Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is gather.
Soon premiering a piece from this experience:
“ASSEMBLY IS A WEAPON.”
.
Assembly Is a Weapon emerges from a collective research experience in Elmina — a place layered with histories of trade, resistance, memory, and survival.
Our gathering moved across landscapes and conversations: cattle markets, coastal forts, food systems, community spaces, and the people whose everyday lives carry these histories forward. Through movement, dialogue, and shared reflection, we explored how knowledge lives not only in archives, but in bodies, streets, and collective presence.
This process asked us to leave our comfort zones and enter spaces of listening. In doing so, we discovered that gathering itself holds power. To assemble is to witness, to question, to remember, and to imagine new possibilities together.
In a time when fragmentation often isolates communities, Assembly Is a Weapon proposes gathering as an act of resistance, care, and transformation.
The work draws from street culture, community engagement, and embodied research, recognizing that liberation can begin in the simple but radical act of coming together.
