Rooted Threads is now open to youth in Toronto! 📣
This is a healing-centred and community-rooted space for Palestinian, Arab, Muslim, and SWANA youth (ages 13-19) navigating collective grief, cultural fragmentation, and systemic injustice in the wake of ongoing genocide, violence, and rising anti-Palestinian & anti-Arab racism 🌱
Together, we’ll work to reclaim our narratives and root ourselves in shared identity, solidarity, and art. This program is about healing loudly, advocating sustainably and writing your own story.
📍 Downtown Toronto
📅 Once a week
⏰ 4:30pm
⏳10-weeks long

The Art of Noticing Part I by @nmarianaphoto at @sittisoap .
We don’t talk about two things enough; The power of third spaces, and *hot take* having the best camera gear does not mean you’ll take the best photos.
You can read all about these topics by visiting my blog pieces on @sittisoap ’s website via the link in my bio 👥
Tickets for The Art of Noticing Part II are now live! Visit @nmarianaphoto ’s link in her bio and join us on May 24 💐
This Giving Tuesday, I’m choosing to give in honour of my favourite girls who have shaped my heart and purpose at Sisters in Sync!
If there’s a woman or girl in your life who has shifted your perspective, lifted your spirit, or helped you become who you are, today is the day to Give in Her Honour. 💐
Support Sisters in Sync this Giving Tuesday and help us reach our $5,000 goal to serve 100 more girls through our youth programming in 2026. Donations of $35 and over are eligible for charity tax receipts! Link in bio 💜

Over the past two months, I’ve had the privilege of facilitating the Rooted Threads program with We Liberate the World, & it has truly been one of the most beautiful journeys I’ve been apart of.
In a time marked by grief, fear, & pain, these girls channeled their emotions into creating art rooted in purpose, advocacy & healing. They stepped beyond their comfort zones, explored their vulnerabilities, & discovered the strength of collective healing. Together, they found power in the community they created & ran with it.
This program was made possible by an entire village. To @shootforpeace_ and @sistersinsync_org — thank you for believing in our vision and helping us create this space. To our brilliant guest speakers, @zico_eg , @omarmasri21 , and @svfvvvv — thank you for sharing your passion and brilliance with our youth.
And to our very first Rooted Threads cohort — Fardosa, Suher, Foziya, Najma, Rimas, Laila, Rawan, Roaa, and Barakat — thank you for trusting us with your stories. This world is a better place with young women like you in it.
Now, it’s time for us to show our youth the power this community holds. Our cohort has been hard at work on a project, and we can’t wait for you to see it. 💌
See you in October 👀

I’ve spent the last month travelling across the GTA, capturing headshots of the most inspiring group of girls for Sisters in Sync’s 5th annual You Go, Girl! Awards.
UNICEF has declared October 11th as the International Day of the Girl, and we want the young girls in our community to know that we will always show up for them. Celebrating young girls is so meaningful because recognition shouldn’t only come after a major achievement — they deserve to be seen and valued by their people and community and beyond, every day. The You Go, Girl! Awards is a reminder of that truth.
Join us on October 11th at the Hamilton Convention Centre to not only celebrate this brilliant group of girls, but to acknowledge all of our girls across the globe who deserve to be celebrated.
Purchase tickets in @sistersinsync_org ’s bio. 💌 100% of proceeds go towards sustaining Sisters in Sync’s programming and services in Hamilton and across the GTA.
Huge shoutout to @sittisoap & @jayucanada for providing us with the space to host our Toronto and Mississauga nominees. 🫂
Emergency rally for Al Mawasi massacre in front of the Israeli Consulate, September 10th, 2024.
Entire families were murdered and buried under the sand, as the Israeli occupation dropped at least four Western manufactured, 2,000 pound bombs on a so called “humanitarian zone.”
As said in January, there is something deeply sinister about the expectation of normalcy and productivity right now. Don’t grow numb.
