Last Spores we went into different territory under the guidance of @andreas.tegnander Mind blown as we learned how most of what we hear can be understood as variations of gain and delay, as Andreas used a single effect chain as a compositional environment. Watching him build those chains, and forming pressure systems made us hear something unexpected. What unfolded from something minimal became an immersive soundscape. This Friday, Oslo-based collective @ute.rec , @interfering_grounds and music production masterclass series @___spores___ join forces for a night moving between learning, listening and dancing. Discover the vision behind this collaboration, and a program that will come to life over two rooms at the club. This Friday, @___spores___ will host a series of masterclasses in the EXPO before the club night from 19:30 till 22:30, and transform it into an intimate setting designed for learning and deep connection. @ute.rec In this panel discussion, we talk with one of Norway’s most distinctive electronic music collectives. Oslo-based artists Marius and Teo, founders of Ute Records, unpack the resurgence of trance and its renewed cultural momentum, exploring how artists today can navigate trends while staying true to their sound. Expect insights into UTE’s approach to record digging and DJ set preparation, in a time where everything feels digitized and infinite. What does it mean to preserve physicality? Why do artefacts, vinyl, and record shops still matter as cultural archives? At the heart of this very dialogue between discovery, curation, and identity lies the music that UTE releases, a reflection of how creative processes open new spaces for sound, and a glimpse into where the collective envisions itself moving forward. @albertabalsam During the workshop, Rotterdam-based artist Alberta Balsam (Clone, Dekmantel) will give insight into her approach to creating live sets. The live set she will perform later that evening explores 90s-inspired ambient and downtempo IDM. The set is part of a larger ongoing project and art installation titled Shifting Forms, which investigates the symbiosis between human lifeforms and microorganisms in the permafrost. Developed in collaboration with visual artist Timaeus, the project examines how sound can express this concept; how the voice can morph, reshape, distort, and dissolve into its surroundings. Participants will learn how to think conceptually live performances: What is your musical intent, and how to translate that into practice? How to use vocals as texture? How to create enough interaction to make a performance feel alive rather than a sequence of loops. She will also demonstrate her workflow setup with hardware and it integrates with Ableton, offering a hands-on view of her creative process. Now that the ADE buzz has settled, we’re taking a moment to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who made the Spores Marathon such a truly unique and vibrant evening. To our incredible presenters: @luna_ludmila_ , @papanugs , and @loradeniz , thank you for delivering three unique and insightful masterclasses. Your willingness to dive deep into your crafts, from transforming tracks into live performances, manipulating samples with new tools, to reimagining the voice as an instrument, was inspiring. A massive shout-out to the @noordspace crew for once again accommodating us and making it our favourite spot to learn and share with fellow music heads. And to @solsystems , the sound was, as always, impeccable and lush. Those larger subs and the kick bin created the perfect environment for us to nerd out. Finally, to everyone who attended the sessions: you are the core of Spores. Your curiosity, engaged questions, and shared energy make these moments what they are. An evening for producers, heads and anyone curious about how sound takes form. Teaching us more about a playfull approach to using the voice not only as a carrier of emotion but also as a source of rhythm, harmony, and atmosphere Then we will learn how to move from the studio to the stage, rebuilding your tracks into Ableton to be ready for a live performance - guided by @luna_ludmila_ We close with sample manipulation and 90s-inspired sound production. Expect lush deep house stabs with lots of movement, and a walkthrough of @papanugs unreleased track “Sounds the Same.” Come early, be curious and ask all your questions. Exciting news - we’re happy to launch the program for our Spores Masterclass Marathon 🍄‍🟫 On October 22, during ADE week, we’ll spend a full evening together at Noordspace — 3 masterclasses with breaks in between, plenty of time to ask questions, exchange ideas, and nerd out with fellow music heads. Your Spores team will moderate the talks and will provide food. For this special occasion we asked Solsystems to bring in and tune their larger subs and kick bin.  Program ✨ Luna Ludmila This summer Luna Ludmila has been touring with her live set. In this masterclass she will guide us through the path from the safety of your studio to the stage — how to transform your tracks into a performance that travels. ✨ Papa Nugs (UK) We’re thrilled to welcome Papa Nugs into the Spores program. His session will open up around his soon-to-be-released track ‘Sounds the Same’. Expect insights on manipulating samples and loops, experimenting with the new Serato Sampler in combination with arpeggiators, and the role of re-sampling in arrangement. ✨ Loradeniz Where Splice packs and hardware dominate, she turns to the instrument we all carry: the voice. Loradeniz will share ways of using it as a tool in music production, to inspire and reimagine sound design. Important information We’re opening doors at 17.30, the actual masterclasses kick off at 18.00 sharp.
