As someone that commits their whole energy to the fight in the days, to have the opportunity to dance is something I'm never going to stop being grateful for. To have this chance to be Karla, embodying the joy and the rage, pushing people to action with my art, and processing alllllll the hurt I witness and experience at the hands of not only law enforcement but the systems that seek to starve, harm, maim, and kill me and my trans family, is the greatest honor. After a couple months of taking it slow and not performing, to be able to grace stages again has me fully moved to tears because I know that when I do what I do, bringing political and queer statements to the stage, I'm advancing the fight exactly as the enemy fears.
