Four years ago today I lost my mother to a shocking and sudden battle with cancer. During those two short months I lived with her, doing what I could to help and recording when the house was quiet. Still Ending, Beginning Still was made during this time. It’s largely improvised, minimally edited and encapsulates a very difficult period in my life where I leaned heavily on the power of music to help me escape reality. Breathing Fallen Sparrows was recorded during the fall/winter of 2020 in the East Kootenay’s of British Columbia and in New York City. The world was in lock-down and I was reeling from the sudden loss of my mother to cancer. I recorded constantly during this time, both inspired by my raw emotional state and needing to escape from it. BFS is meandering and imperfect; at times sombre, genuinely hopeful and deeply calm.
