DON’T SHOOT. This idea all started as a set of visuals that appeared in a dream: a blind gangster with a gun and a kid in a nighttime shooting face off. We felt there was so much unspoken emotion attached to that visual world and for ages we had just wanted to go out and create and in the process, do away with some of the really easy excuses that we often find not to: not enough time, too expensive, too difficult. We begged and borrowed the generosity of some incredible friends and collaborators, to strip it back to the basics, shooting @kodak_shootfilm 16mm with no monitors, no playback, just trust in our vision and our incredible DOP Harry Grunfeld. The success in many ways was in the making, as it was undoubtedly one of the funnest experiences we’ve had on set in so long, because everyone was there purely for the passion - it felt like we’d snuck into this tiny corner of far East London and were in a race against time to shoot with no weight of expectations, strict rules or clear plan to follow. And sure, a lot of things proved challenging. We’d deliberately been really loose in our structure, choosing to shoot instinctively which meant our shot list was more than a little loose, and perhaps we missed some key coverage we could have got with a little more planning. The results were beautiful but left us stuck in the edit wrestling over exactly what this little film was and how it should come together. But when it all clicked, it was worth the waiting - and we knew we’d made something we loved. Huge thanks to the entire team below, and especially to our producer, Helena Collado, whose trust and energy make everyone on set feel unstoppable. The most fun afternoon shooting something colourful for the new SUDAKA collection for Atelier Munay @ateliermunay around Lisbon with my favourite girls, @franchubavio who is the Creative Director and Founder of the brand and @camila.chavanne who I always have so much fun shooting with! ✨

You asked for more, so here is another look into how we shot the end segment of our Saucony commercial. This segment was all about speed and timing. This is a good view to really see just how good @chuk.owens camera control is. We were always pushing to use higher focal lengths at higher speeds. Beauitful for us to watch now… a nightmare to get right when when the pressure is on. Big kudos to the main man 💪🏼❤️ @chuk.owens @steptstudios @saucony BTS by the epic @thethomasensley

We’ve had a lot of questions about how we shot our Saucony commercial so here’s a little sneak peak from one of the takes… Stunt driver up front running the route, @gilesrozier17 in the passenger seat while @_______wij_______ is outside running alongside helping control the pace, @chuk.owens controlling framing and focal length, crane operator alongside, and our AC in the boot pulling focus the whole time.
