During the tour with @gruppasoyuz I ended up having a mad night at @lostclubnight with @jamesblake giving a secret performance. A month later I returned to that stage for my debut with some incredible musicians from the UK. This is the start of a solo project I’ve had in mind for a long time. The text reflects on the amplification of human voices in the context of protests and considers how alliances are formed through sound. It engages with Judith Butler’s Notes Toward a Performative Theory of Assembly while also drawing on a range of authors and perspectives to explore different sonic dimensions of protest and their histories.
The article grew out of my undergraduate thesis, written last year under the supervision of @bokaja . I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her guidance and support throughout the process. The thesis was later awarded by a jury consisting of Sylwia Chutnik, Michał Boni, Anna Dżabagina, and Mirosław Filiciak.
I’m grateful to be able to write about something that feels particularly important in the current moment. Thanks as well to all the writers who contributed to this edition.
