๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜จ๐˜จ๐˜ด is a bamboo chandelier, modelled after the female reproduction system. We wanted it to feel viscous, sagging into its middle, like a giant sticky droplet clinging on. Suspended in a dark, four-storey mechanical carpark, when the viewer looks down, theyโ€™ll see the vast space between the tip of chandelier and to the vanishing point of the unseen. Through the center of the chandelier, a single light drops into the chasm, evoking the overwhelming challenge a woman often confronts. It represents the unfathomable abundance a woman is born with, yet the fragility of conception and beginning of life outside the body. ๐“‚ƒ Swipe for behind-the-scenes glimpses of the fabrication process, from initial design to final install ๐Ÿฅš

โบโ€งโ‚Šหš๐ŸŽ‹หšโ‚Šโ€งโบห– At the heart of ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜จ๐˜จ๐˜ด is a large-scale bamboo chandelier โ€” a sculptural form that evokes both suspended ovum and architectural body. Created in collaboration with bamboo fabricator @dokinikki , this structure is a meditation on organic infrastructure and reproductive architecture. Bamboo is a material often associated with flexibility, impermanence, and resilience. It folds like a lantern and it supports a core that glows โ€” literally and conceptually โ€” with tension. ๐“‚ƒ Videography by Zachary Chia @art.sg @sgartweek #OurSGArtsย #SGArtWeek #ARTSG2025 #SAW2025 #ArtTakesOver #contemporaryart #femaleartists #eggfreezing

โบโ€งโ‚Šหš๐Ÿฅšหšโ‚Šโ€งโบห– Weโ€™ve been thinking about how egg-freezing is shown โ€” glowing women, soft pastels, self-care spaces bathed in luxurious lightingโ€ฆ and chicken eggs. The chicken egg in snow. In ice. Cradled near the body. Clusters of chicken eggs as a visual shorthand to describe this very intimate process of preserving fertility. Most chicken eggs are unfertilised. And yet theyโ€™re used as a symbol of fertility. Which feels like a hopeful, optimistic depiction โ€“ย like this is an easy lifestyle choice to make. The photographic prints represent this absurdism and abundance of eggs. The fantasy of a bountiful, flawless harvest of eggs, that delivers success. In ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜จ๐˜จ๐˜ด, we turned these tensions into form โ€” mixing sculpture, photography, and projection inspired by imagery sourced from egg-freezing clinics. Printed on brushed aluminium, the works are both industrial and intimate โ€” sliding between real and unreal as you move around them. ๐“‚ƒ 1. Stock photo website 2. โ€˜hatchโ€™, 60 ร— 40cm. A huge thank you to everyone who has come by and supported the ๐ฌ๐ž๐ ๐ ๐ฌ show during Singapore Art Week. Whether youโ€™re exploring egg-freezing, have made your choice, or are hearing about its nuances for the first time, thank you for coming with us on this beautiful, messy journey โŠน เฃช ห– ๐“‚ƒ ๐ฌ๐ž๐ ๐ ๐ฌ explores the journey to preserve fertility for future possibilities, by juxtaposing surreal imagery against absurdist elements. Set in an inhabitable space, a four-storey mechanical carpark, the centrepiece plays with dramatic scale contrasts: a three-meter bamboo chandelier inspired by the female reproductive system is precariously suspended, whilst a solitary drop of light disappears into the chasm. ๐“‚ƒ Videography by Zachary Chia @art.sg @sgartweek #OurSGArtsย #SGArtWeek #ARTSG2025 #SAW2025 #ArtTakesOver #contemporaryart #femaleartists #eggfreezing

We are pleased to share our programme in conjunction with Singapore Art Week 2025! ๐“‚ƒ ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜จ๐˜จ๐˜ดย is our first large-scale, in-situ public installation, where we suspend a three-meter chandelier made of bamboo and eggshells. The sculpture is set in a 15-meter operational mechanical carpark vacated for the exhibition. It emphasizes the female body as a site of both creation and experimentation and the juxtaposition of how technology intersects with human reproduction and individual autonomy. ๐“‚ƒ Come join us for dinner and drinks ๐Ÿฅš. โ‚Š โŠน We have a curated menu in collaboration with @badhabitsprovision , serving delicious pizza and cocktails. ๐“‚ƒ Event RSVP: ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ณ๐—ผ@๐˜…๐˜€๐˜€.๐˜€๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ผ ๐Ÿ—“๏ธย 13โ€“26 January, 6:30 - 9:30pm. We are excited to announce that we are participating in Singapore Art Week and ART SG in January 2025! ๐“‚ƒ The female body is born with a million eggs, yet the path to conception is marked by fragility and improbability. ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜จ๐˜จ๐˜ดย explores this phenomenon via a mixed-media landscape onto a three-meter fallopian tube inspired chandelier. Suspended in a four-storey mechanical car park, the chandelier sags into its middle like a sticky droplet on the verge of falling. The sculpture evokes both the abundance of fertility and its delicate impermanence. Delving into the intimate and intrusive process of egg freezing, ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜จ๐˜จ๐˜ด expresses the intersection between feminine flesh, technology, and reproduction. ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜จ๐˜จ๐˜ดย reimagines the female body as a site of both creation and experimentation. Inspired by the rhythm of the human heart, the structure symbolizes the chambers through which love flows. Visitorsโ€™ heartbeats, measured through a biometric reader at the installationโ€™s center, are translated into pulsating light that courses through the structure. These individual pulses intertwine with those of other visitors, palpitating and blending in tandem like webs of fate. As the lights ebb and flow, the installation asks: what does it take to truly open ourselves to love and allow our hearts to connect? โ™ก Made and animated with Blender
